Haha. It will finally be a few more of us once they start this international rollout. It will be all 10 of us then.
The weird thing about spacial video on the iPhone 15P is you can't zoom nor can you be too close to an object. That leaves items far away for people that are viewing on a standard display. I wonder if there's a fix to this down the road and if so how far down the road. Or is the idea of spatial recording mainly just for spatial devices only.

My point in bringing this up in an iPhone camera upgrade thread is spatial recording on an iPhone is a neat thing, but it wouldn't be in the list of reasons to upgrade even with owning a VP. Most people don't have a spatial device and even if they did, they'd look at it on their phone or computer first. In other words, such an upgrade would feel like the M4 on an iPad, it's nice but there's not much use for it at the moment other than niche. Amazing that the iPhone can shoot spatial, but there are too many compromises for it to be a useful feature unless you're shooting just for spatial devices only.

Love the iPhone but apple is so slow with cameras it's kinda laughable. Tried s24u against the 15 pro max and the s24u is so much better. And yes I keep my iPhone because I can't android.
Technically yes, but the default software Samsung uses to process the images can be a very hit and miss proposition. You'll probably need a third-party camera software to fully take advantage of what the Galaxy S24 Ultra can do, just like the third-party software on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Purposely slow.
Even if the technology is ready two years ago, Apple needs to have enough 'features' every year to sell the latest model.

I wish they would stop it with only upgrading the Pro Max while leaving the standard Pro behind. If it’s a price issue, just charge the same for both. Most of us buying Pro phones are not price sensitive! We just want the best tech in the form factor that works for us. And I don’t want to hear people saying it’s because they can’t fit it into the smaller Pro. Have you seen the leaks of how big the new standard Pro is? They could certainly fit a larger sensor in it. We’re talking about millimeters. I already have the Pro Max and it is too big. This newer one will be a monster!

I’m downgrading regardless. Tired of big phones. If Apple wants to leave money on the table, then so be it: I would pay the same to get the same features in the smaller size.

I really, really hope the 16 Pro also gets the new IMX903 sensor. I don't see any reason for it not to and it would be very disappointing for that model to have kept the same sensor for a 3rd year in a row.

Can we just get action mode in actual 4k and not this 2K bullcrap? Literally, the only feature I'd like to see :)
Agreed: Action mode in 4K and also video recording 4K at 120fps for smoother slow motion, way more cinematographic!

Can I pile on? We need 4K (if not 8K) and Dolby Vision for timelapses. It's wild that the regular video camera has supported 4K capture for nearly a decade, and Dolby Vision for several years, but timelapses are still stuck in 1080p SDR.

"In 2025, the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to complete the rear camera array's transition to 48-megapixel sensors"
- This is what I am waiting for. It is absurd to have to compromise on resolution across the rear cameras on a $1200 device.

Also slow motion has not been updated in years. It should have 480 fps by now even if it is only usable outdoors during the day.

Exactly. It would suck if the camera sensor in the 16 Pro I just bought was the same from my 14 Pro. I guess Apple is in full trickle mode when it comes to introducing new features and upgraded components.

More pixels =/= higher image quality.

I'm well aware of that having being a digital photo buff since 2001. In fact, I long defended Apple's holding the line on MP while competitors were going for lower quality higher MP counts for marketing reasons.

However, in the case of iPhone 15 Pro Max, the 48MP sensor produces a 24MP image which is noticeably more detailed than the 12MP iPhone 13 Pro I was using. I tend to crop my images a lot too and more MP helps with that.

I don't want a huge phone but I do want that new sensor. Given that this is my upgrade year this will be a real dilemma. Wish Apple didn't differentiate the Pro from the Pro Max other than in screen size.

Why don't smartphone manufacturers provide oversampled 4K or at least 1080p. It will be way more useful than just bragging 8K like samsung.
Also 4K@120fps would be awesome for slow-mo shots.

And they should provide the standard lenses at 16mm, 35mm, 85mm and 135mm with the widest aperture possible on a smartphone.

And if they are not shrinking the bump then just use a single 1-inch sensor and use these four rotatable lenses so that all lenses will have same sensor quality.

I know others will not agree but do not think we need to make the iPhone thinner! Give us more battery and less camera hump. Apple users have paid dearly for their obsession with making everything thin.
