My wife's got a 16 Pro with 128gb. How much space will she have free after installing ios27? I am guessing she might have to disable Apple Intelligence to gain some space?

No idea about your wife's phone but iOS now takes up ~34GB on my Air.
iOS, ~16GB
Apple Intelligence, ~18GB
System Files is variable and device specific. Mine sits at around 21GB.

Yeah, apparently caches and files from old apps that aren’t even installed anymore still stay buried in the file system on macOS, so I’d advise you search for any of those. They can use up a lot of space. I can’t believe it’s 2026 and macOS forces us to go on an Easter egg hunt for app files instead of uninstalling an app and it’s associated files automatically like iPadOS can…

On Mac, I use AppCleaner by Freemacsoft.net and it works great finding all the associated files when deleting an app.

Scrap software... Just check the app manifest when you are installing something and do the vaccum by yourself...

Yeah, I found out I had to use AppCleaner the hard way. Launchpad supported removing associated files for App Store apps as well if I wanted (majority of the apps on my Mac are from App Store), and that was the way I always managed my apps before. It’s frustrating they decided to regress back to like the 80s or whatever where we now have to either rely on sideloaded third-party utilities that could be collecting any number of different stuff with the broad permissions you have to grant these apps, or search through the filesystem manually to try and find the app files sprinkled everywhere like confetti. Launchpad made so much sense, I don’t know why they decided to just up and delete it for no reason. People who wanted to use Spotlight and search for their apps already could…

Yeah, well I like the permissions, I don’t want apps to just automatically have access to all my files and such. But perhaps they could simplify the process. But the biggest frustrations generally come from now having to rely on third-party sideloaded apps that can’t really be held accountable for basic stuff that should just be built into the OS in year 2026. My iPad handles this great. Why can’t my Mac manage apps as well as my iPad? This is probably going to be controversial, but I really think the Mac needs to learn a LOT from the iPad. 🙂👍🏻
Couple of question...does all the space come back if you disable Apple Intelligence? Also...what the biggest things you would really lose?
