Black Caudabe Synthesis for the 17 Pro and Pro Max are back in limited availability. According to their email, they hadn't planned on bringing it back (probably because a huge number of them seemed to have the magnets installed backwards), but they got so much feedback asking for them that they decided to bring it back for a limited run.

How do you like it compared to the GOAT (TW)? Personally, the texture and that color are not my thing. 😊
iPhone almost feels like naked after I switch from Sheath to TW. That weight and width shift is very noticeable.

TW is an amazing case goat indeed but I keep coming back to Sheath. Texture is defo not everyone’s cup of tea but in my opinion they have definitely toned it down this year.

Before i return or destroy this Caudabe Synthesis Frost for the 17 Pro is anyone interested in buying it, price negotiable, free delivery, UK only?

After almost a week of living with the Pro Max, I’ve pretty much adjusted to the larger size and increased weight. I’ve purposely avoided picking up my old Air (which now belongs to my wife) so as to not compare the two for feel, which the Air will win by a country mile.

I’m really enjoying the PM cameras; I’d forgotten how much fun it is to shoot with the macro in the springtime with all the flowers, butterflies, and bugs doing their thing. After all these months, I’ve also gotten used to the look of the massive plateau, which doesn’t appear nearly as odd as it used to (it’s funny how our brains adjust to new norms). Overall, I wouldn’t say I’m ecstatic, but I’m also not displeased.

On this butter-soft aluminum phone, I’m much more concerned about dents and dings than I was with the titanium Air. The Pitaka Edge was my #1 on the Air, but on this phone my priorities have totally shifted away from feel, to coverage and drop protection. I still want a case that looks good, but exposed metal at the edges is definitely out of the question now.

The only two cases I currently own—after having well over a dozen for the Air—are the Beats Rugged and the TechWoven. I actually prefer the Beats to the TW which, in my opinion, provides only minimal edge protection and not enough lip. The TW feels great in the hand, but I don’t trust it to protect this phone in a hard drop on rocks or concrete. I also like the soft lining in the Beats, which seems easier on the finish than the rough interior of the TW. And finally, the Beats’ grip is perhaps the best I’ve experienced on any case, which in my hand feels just right. I’m overall very happy with it, and I may just be able to live with only these two and avoid a case shopping spree (I know, I know, but I may prove you wrong… lol).

A few obligatory pics…

Glad to hear that you are enjoying it - that's what matters 😀

I think that you may be surprised if you try to confiscate your wife's new Air. If we don't hear from you for a while, know that we wish you a speedy recovery 🤣

Beautiful, is that black a fingerprint magnet?

Just hope this is actually a new, fresh run and not shipping those first ones with the defective finish on the back 😕

Mine is out for delivery, I'll know for sure this afternoon.

Also loving the Beats rugged case for the 17PM! Definitely feels underrated this year (minus the price but I bought this on offered up for $25 from someone who didn’t like it)

Still rocking my Pitaka Ultraguard/Summa case on my 17 Pro. It’s feels proper worn in now as I haven’t removed it putting it on since Day 1 of unboxing the phone. Yes it’s a bit of a greasy monkey on the back and also it has MagSafe ring marks as I constantly use it on MagSafe stands and charge using the Apple Magsafe puck. The camera control and the usb port area is still pretty ridged and tight, although I had seen reports that the Pro Max version is loose, but hopefully they have fixed that. Also the cherry on the top is that Pitaka fully refunded me the purchase price of the case as I told them about the slight ding on the camera surround, so in essence I got the case for free. Happy days. Still would recommend this case.

Updated black Synthesis in today. This one is a little better than the first-launch one I had, but it still has that discolored frost along the back panel edges. Do I think they did a second run/remake of this case? NO. I believe they just dug through the initial batch and pulled out the ones with the least discoloration and called it a final launch/run. Purely speculation on my part.

Haven't had time to try on phone yet. Here are a couple quick pics:

How do you compare it to other Caudabe? This year has been a huge disappointment imo for Caudabe.

Have had this one in my cart while debating on the canyon to go with it. Maybe looks a little bit less spray painted on the back than the original version?
