Hey guys,

I just noticed a tiny black dot on the frame of my 4 month old iPhone 17 Pro Max. I have absolutely no idea how it got there. As you know, I love changing my cases frequently, so I’m honestly wondering if all that swapping somehow caused this?? 😳

The device has never been dropped, and it never bumped into anything. It’s definitely not a scratch or a dent - the surface is completely smooth. It just looks like a tiny discolored dot right on the material.

I know it’s just cosmetic, but as a perfectionist, it’s driving me a bit crazy right now. 😭
That’s actually the antenna, so plastic, not metal. I wonder if it’s a tiny stain from glue, ink, etc. transferring from a case?

Is the lip round the back annoying?
To me, no. Nomad cases have concave sides, so I end up gripping only on the sides—never touch the back edges. YMMV on this.

1 review on Amazon says weak magnets?
The magnets are to Apple specs, same for Mous. Most reviewers rate MagSafe as stronger=better, so they do poorly in reviews. Some people also prefer super strong magnets. Personally, I prefer Apple-spec magnets so I’m not constantly lifting chargers and skewing car mounts with overly strong magnets. I’ve never had a phone fall off a mount with either this case or the Mous.

I think, you actually nailed it. It makes perfect sense that the plastic absorbed something from one of my cases during a swap, especially since that dot definitely wasn’t there when the phone was brand new.

Maybe this is a sign from the universe that I should upgrade to the 18 Pro Max later this year after all... I'm already thinking about it! 🫣 Let's see if the next frame handles case-swapping a bit better. 🤣

What do you guys clean your iPhone screen with, even if you have a screen protector installed? I have heard many conflicting things about what you should and shouldn't use to clean your iPhone screen. Some people recommend just using water and an microfibre cloth, but water leaves streaks imo. I know some people also use glasses wipes, but I have also heard some people say they are not good to use on iPhone screens.
Does anybody have any good recommendations?

I use a dry dbrand cloth that came with their skins 😅

These little towels are the absolute best for cleaning your screen off. No liquid needed.

The light purple ones are also real good, just a little thinner.

On most days, a dry microfiber cloth. On occasion, the same microfiber but dampened with a drop of water. Been doing that for many years with no issues.

Or maybe it’s a sign that we case lunatics (I definitely qualify) should just buy one case and use it for the life of the phone like normal people. 😉

Sometimes I get dirt on my screen or stubborn spots that won't go away when I try and wipe it off with a cloth. I need some type of solution to get rid of it...
Also I am in London, they don't sell them on Amazon UK.
Water is the perfect solvent for this. A few drops of water on a microfiber will take off almost anything that normally gets on phone screens. If something is super stubborn, you could add the tiniest bit of dish soap, but I never need to do this. Personally, I wouldn’t put any chemicals on my delicate phone screen, camera lenses, or eyeglasses for fear of damaging the coatings.

Yesss, but the cases are all so pretty, I just can't choose only one! 😂

(And honestly, switching between mostly soft Apple Silicon cases once a week is something a premium phone should easily handle without getting damaged or stained.)

For sure! I was just teasing a bit. 😊

Like many, I think this most recent Pro, while being improved in terms of heat dissipation, took a major step backward in toughness. I hope they eventually manage a compromise that leans more toward toughness (doesn’t appear to be happening for the 18, unfortunately).

Another day, another case… This time it’s WIIUKA Vintage Black. Velvety soft Nubuck leather. ☺️

If my phone is really dirty (think sunscreen transfer from face to screen + dirt/dust from working outside), I just run it under the water in my sink and then dry it with a microfiber cloth.

I used to be paranoid about this as well. But now I buy Apple Care and figure I can spend less money on cases and put that toward the AppleCare cost instead. If my phone gets destroyed, I will just have it replaced.
I have AC+ so I’m not concerned about catastrophic damage to my phone. It’s the cosmetic damage that’s not covered that I’m worried about. I’ve seen too many photos of dents on the corners of these phones that happened while the phones were in thin cases.
