got tbe 17pm in silver Wed around 12 noon and been testing it. Came from 15pm white that i am giving to my Dad.

The battery is insane and on par with what I have heard just over a day in. Selfie camera is odd to get the 18mp shots. Wish there was a toggle to preserve center stage in camera settings.

Overall very pleased and even in hand feels better than my 15pm and I am always caseless and have been for ages.

Love mine. 17PM 256 Orange. Just wish they would sort the Carplay Issues out.
what carplay issues are you facing? The only issue I am facing is that you have to unlock your phone to access the carplay interface for the first time. The songs start playing but you cannot access the interface. Also, the song metadata/info is not available in the car's instrument cluster until/unless you unlock your phone.

The 17 Pro Max camera will be a huge upgrade for you. Your idea of "17 Pro Max next year refurb" is a great way to go if you can wait.

Apple will be getting a lot of iP17 PMs back from all the folks that think it is fine to buy multiple phones, use them and then send them back without ever having any intention of buying. The question is just when Apple will decide to open up the refurb marketing channel.

Yes I will wait, I try to set a price limit on a phone and it is less then Apples RRP lol. They are incredibly expensive as it is. But I think an orange 17 Pro Max will do and I'll finally be rid of lightning on my phone. Then maybe in 3 or 4 years I'll up my budget and get a refurb folding iPhone and replace my phone and iPad in one. That is the plan anyway as by then I expect my iPad Pro battery will be going.

Weird you even upgraded... like, what did you even upgrade for? What were you expecting?
I agreed. unless you have older iPhones either 3 to 5 year or older. If I'm going jump up from 1 year old iPhone I would have wait for month to see review and suggest and comparison device between 16 pro max vs 17 pro max. most like you fine 1 or 2 little things improving not much. only thing 17 PM bigger battery and new heat improving. other that nothing everything pretty much the same.

I'm guessing some user with 16 Pro max and 15 Pro max experience heat that is bother them. But depend how often does it happen.

I'm sure 16 pro max is great iPhone and nothing wrong with it as I believe.

I'm not having any CarPlay issues that you guys describe. I'm on a 17 PM, Orange like the one above.

25 Honda Accord for the car if it matters.

I upgraded from a 16 Pro to a 17 Pro. Not having any issues with Carplay, wifi disconnects, camera rattling, or any of the other issues I've seen others post about in the forum. Not saying those issues are not legitimate, just that I've not experienced any of them on the phone I just purchased.

I waited until the initial wave of release day passed and bought in store on Sep 24th at my local Apple Store.

My unit (according to the battery status) was manufactured in August, with first use in September - Deep Blue Pro with 256gb. I set it up via iCloud backup and esim transfer from my previous device.

Seems like this year, there is more in store availability than in years past. Last year, was into October before you could just walk in and purchase. The base 17's seem to be harder to find along with the Silver Pro. Blue and Orange Pro's can be found easily, as can the Air.

My local Apple Store only has Pros in 1TB Orange. Pro Max are totally unavailable in Orange. Other colors are hit or miss

i don't know if i'm imagining it but photos taken on my 17 Pro Max look so much better. i know the cameras have been upgraded but i think the photos generally do look better. so i guess i'm just saying i think i can tell the difference lol. i'm not a photographer/expert but everything looks cleaner and more "cinematic".. not a lot of noise, much sharper details, and i suppose less aggressive depth of field/blurring. i'm using the standard style or whatever it's called because i don't really like applying filters or drastically changing colours. i want images to look as realistic as possible.
You are imagining it.

Hate to break it to you, but I did a bunch of tests with my 17 Pro Max yesterday, and all the photos look great compared to my 16 Pro Max. The telephoto is noticably better, outside and indoors in low light
Must be us.
I'll tell my mother with [a disease] that it's her fault. "Hate to break it to you, mom, but it's your fault."
