This is a scandal that will hit Apple very hard, both financially and in terms of reputation!

Doubt it but, honestly, hopefully it does. I'm a diehard first gen iPhoner. Had almost every model in one form or another (they've gotten quite redundant the past few years). What I now see here is a giant company doing giant company stuff. A slew of departments all working on one tangentially related project or another and at some point coming together to create new phone.

That said, the lead time on these devices is easily a year or two so it's beyond perplexing that someone in the Apple ecosphere didn't notice this little scratchy stand showroom problem. You test EVERYTHING when you're the biggest company on the planet.

My comments for Air come true even after it is released. It does have overheat, cpu easily locked speed because of heat issue. Is it really that strong that even sit on it wouldn’t break? Time will tell.
It's been proven the Air won't break from sitting on it. It also does NOT overheat. So your comments that you stated as fact are in fact, false with no data to back them up.

I almost feel like this thread needs to be locked 😂 I think the point that needs to be learnt here is that everyone has the option to buy what they want. If you're an early adopter or buying day one, you do so without there being evidence of that devices performance because it's new. Same as you are downloading Beta's etc.

If you then choose to purchase a device and you have prior knowledge of the devices flaws, then thats on that person. My car had a known fault that wasn't manufacturer covered. I knew about it, bought the car. 5 years later, it went wrong. That was on me because I knew it could happen.

Let these people buy their Air's, Aluminium phones, different coloured devices with different battery sizes and different finishes and just be done with it-if it doesn't affect you personally, then it doesn't matter.

Many people already reporting and showing this overheating... CPU will slow down then.
Yeah, likely new devices that are still indexing and setting up.
The CPU will throttle on any device, you'll never get peak performance for sustained periods, the Air due to thermals will have a smaller peak window but they aren't just randomly getting hot in people's pockets.

And plus one for this too. My 15PM ran hot regularly, but the first day of installing iOS26 it was really hot and drained the battery, day two was better, day three it was running pretty much as normal.

It cannot even complete one cycle of stress test, speed locked down and slower than 17 Base.

For a lot of people, sitting on part of it would apply more than 200lb of force and break it.

Already starting to die down. Guess we’re getting to the take or leave it stage. Not something Apple can quietly fix either.

Sounds like the abomination that is Liquid Glass.

As ever, the Apple slogan remains...

"Apple: Take It or Leave It"
