As I posted in another thread, apprently the following procedure has fixed the problem for a lot of people. I just tried it this morning and now my iPhone syncs everything including DRM content:

(1) Deauthorized the computer.
(2) Authorize the computer
(3) Go to iTunes Store in iTunes, purchased a FREE app
(4) Sync iPhone

Superstar!!! Thanks a million

That's it... worked for me too... Thanks !!

(1) Deauthorized the computer.
(2) Authorize the computer
(3) Go to iTunes Store in iTunes, purchased a FREE app
(4) Sync iPhone

I tried this, and it looked like it was working... It update the Apps, and then... IT FROZE.

Again.

This is terrible.

EDIT: Looks like my 30GB iPod (2006-4th gen?) syncs perfectly fine. So at least there's that...

EDIT #2: I tried one more time, and this time I walked away. I came back 5 minutes later, and it was still frozen, and just when I was about to force quit, the sync resumed. What an annoying glitch!

I just got an email from them about this.

"Dear Customer,

Recently, we uncovered an issue which was causing iTunes to unexpectedly quit when synced with an iPod or an iPhone. This issue impacted a small number of users, and we have identified your account as potentially being affected.

If you have experienced this issue, please follow these steps in order to sync your iPod or iPhone with iTunes:

1. Launch iTunes
2. Select "Deauthorize Computer" from the Store menu
3. Enter your iTunes Store Account ID and Password, then click the Deauthorize button
4. Next, choose "Authorize Computer" from the Store menu
5. Enter your iTunes Store Account ID and Password, then click the Authorize button

Once you have successfully deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, you should be able to sync your iPod or iPhone to iTunes.

I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that you may have experienced as a result of this issue.

Thank you for being an iTunes Store customer."

Worked for me! I still think backups are longer than 2.2.

Thank you so much!

I've been syncing fine since the update, but today it froze on me just as it did for you guys. But because my first google search took me to this thread, I was able to solve the issue in under ten minutes.

I really appreciate the fact that you guys saved me so much trouble. You've caused me to sign up for an account here, and if anything ever happens to my iphone again, I'll be sure to report it here so others can then use it to help them from having to go through any trouble as well.

I owe you guys one for this. (c;

I have the same problem!

And even if I Deauthorize and Authorize the computer(and buy free app), the ipod touch would not sync! It just quits unexpectedly. Argg!!:(
