Doubt it.
Moore's Law works on 18 month cycles of doubling. iphone's doubling on 12 month cycles. It's gonna catch up on Apple soon enough.
i was under the impression that the reason for this was that the iphone does not have room for two memory chips because of the radio/gps chips whereas the ipod touch can house two memory chips so its got 2x32GB chips...
i could be completely wrong though.
Technically, you mean Kryder's law (Moore's refers to transistor count), and it's faster than 18 months.

Almost every measure of the capabilities of digital electronic devices is strongly linked to Moore's law: processing speed, memory capacity, sensors and even the number and size of pixels in digital cameras
There will never be an iPhone 3GS with 64GB of storage space.
Doubt it.

Not trying to sound rude, but why on earth would you need to carry all that media around at one time? Sure, you might have more than 32GB of stuff, but there is no way you would ever need that much media to carry at one time. Just my opinion, but I think a lot of people agree with me on this one.
4GB iphone (first gen)
8GB iphone (first gen) 06/07
16GB iphone (first gen) 02/08
8GB (3g)
16GB (3g) 07/08
16GB (3g S)
32GB (3g S) 06/09
So as you can see it took over 16 months going from 8GB to 16GB.
It's going to take at least another 16 months to go from 32GB to 64GB.
I highly doubt there will be a 64GB iphone (3rd gen) circa summer 2010 when Apple does the next update.
Ipod Touch has 2 memory slots (32GB X2) = 64GB.
iPhone has one memory slot (because of other wireless radios in the other place). So right now it can only have 32GB.
32GB flash memory made by Samsung is very expensive at this time.
Sure the iPhone is due for a major design next year. But that's next year. Buy the 32GB iPhone and enjoy it now. You can always resell it and subsidize the cost of a future iPhone next summer.
If you keep on waiting for electronics for the next best thing, you would have missed out of the current generation that people like me have enjoyed for the last 2 1/2 months.
I'd rather see them increase the RAM rather than the storage memory. More RAM= faster, more responsive phone.

Moore's Law has nothing to do with storage it is the amount of capacitors that they can fit on a cpu.
it point still stands though![]()
thanks for correction.![]()
