Iphone 3GS 64GB

I wouldn't be surprised if they released 64/128 GB models of iPhones next year... I'm speculating they could be going as far as releasing 4G phones a year from now, too? I wonder what they're boiling...
The 64gig chip will be bigger so chances aree there no room. Once they can get the 64 just that bit smaller they can. Ipod touch as all ways had twice as much storage on top modle.

So as you can see it took over 16 months going from 8GB to 16GB.
It's going to take at least another 16 months to go from 32GB to 64GB.
I highly doubt there will be a 64GB iphone (3rd gen) circa summer 2010 when Apple does the next update.
Ipod Touch has 2 memory slots (32GB X2) = 64GB.
iPhone has one memory slot (because of other wireless radios in the other place). So right now it can only have 32GB.
32GB flash memory made by Samsung is very expensive at this time.
Sure the iPhone is due for a major design next year. But that's next year. Buy the 32GB iPhone and enjoy it now. You can always resell it and subsidize the cost of a future iPhone next summer.
If you keep on waiting for electronics for the next best thing, you would have missed out of the current generation that people like me have enjoyed for the last 2 1/2 months.

Not trying to sound rude, but why on earth would you need to carry all that media around at one time? Sure, you might have more than 32GB of stuff, but there is no way you would ever need that much media to carry at one time. Just my opinion, but I think a lot of people agree with me on this one.

i was under the impression that the reason for this was that the iphone does not have room for two memory chips because of the radio/gps chips whereas the ipod touch can house two memory chips so its got 2x32GB chips...

I look at it this way: each iphone gets the capacity of the last year's high end touch. So the 2010 iphone will have 64 GB. (This is thrown off a little by the 2/08 introduction of the 16 GB iphone 2G, but since the 3G didn't increase capacity any more, the rule holds.) Buy accordingly.
That is correct. Due to the iPod touch's lack of a radio chip, it can house two NAND slots on the motherboard, rather that the one in the iPhone.

Moore's Law was nothing more than something Gordon Moore mentioned one time. And for a long time Intel milked it's products for a few years even though it had faster chips in the lab and there was no competition.

I have close to 50GB of music and would like it all on my iPhone. Right now I keep my entire music collection on my 60GB iPod 5G that stays in my car, but I love the Genius feature of the iPhone/iPod Touch and wish to use that with my entire music collection (and not just the ~12GB I currently have on my iPhone). It would especially be nice on road trips when I can just listen to whatever I like without having to worry about making playlists prior to the trip.

they use toshiba as the memory supplier. Don't put it pass apple to put a 64gb iPhone next year. People that say there won't be one could be people that hope there isn't one because they can't get the upgrade price of the new iPhone?
My 3GS has yet to run out of RAM even with several apps backgrounded, GUI themes, and other MobileSubstrate extensions.
If there is a 64GB iPhone, it will happen next year.
Not to sound rude or anything, but why wouldn't you? I enjoy being able to rock out to my hip-ho/rap/techno when walking around, but also be able to play music my girlfriend likes when we're driving. amazingly, both can happen in one day without me going home. Also, if on a long trip like my 4th of July weekend one where I'm driving for 16 hours total and don't have my laptop with me it's nice to only have on device but all my tunes on it. Don't get me wrong, I love my 16 GB iPhone, but I'll snatch an 80 GB iPhone the second it becomes available.

I could stand to have 64GB of storage so I could have that much media with me at once. When I was still having to go into the office every day, I took a lot of movies and TV with me on my iPod Touch and then my iPhone when I got it; having the extra storage comes in handy if, say, you change your mind on what you feel like watching during the day. Now that I work from home, it's kind of a moot point, but it'd still be sweet to have that much storage for, say, long flights, etc.
Moore's Law has nothing to do with storage it is the amount of capacitors that they can fit on a cpu.

yeah it amazing to see that many devices/structures packed into a such a small area. Whats more amazing is how they are made and how fast the dies are made.

No need for flash drives, no need for external hard drives, no need to upgrade the H/disk on my next laptop...
Then no need to juggle all my iPhone media around on a weekly basis.

2) Will 64Gb be enough storage by such time anyway. (photo's, videos and Apps are constantly growing in size and quantity)
