Its not a defect, the iPhone screen is a thin sheet of glass.. What did you think would happen if you dropped it? Its glass not plastic.

ive never seen anything fall out of a back pocket, especially if you were to bend down to pick something up, your backpocket should've tighten up against your ass and prevented anything from falling. unless you REALLY bend backward where your head went between your legs and your ass over your head...i dont know..i still dont see the logic.

Above message not to be read on a full bladder.... ROFL....

Damn what's wrong with trying to get it fixed free? Well anyways that story definitely won't fly based on the picture you posted unless you can really sell your story. Maybe you can go back and take the $100 offer because that's about as good as you can get.

Apple offering to replace it for a $100 was extremely generous.

I love how people expect Apple to act differently than everyone other company out there. If you took in a broken screen phone to any other manufactor, they would laugh in your face... they definitely wouldn't offer to replace it for $200 let alone offering you 50% off the price of the out of warranty replacement.

So I go to an apple store thinking that because it only fell about a foot there had to be a defect in the glass and they would replace it at no cost. **** was I wrong, tried charging me $199 to either fix it or replace it. He eventually went down to $100 but I ended up arguing and just left. My question is if I go to another apple store and change my story, like say I pushed the screen and it broke, can they look up what I said today?

I'll post a pic when I get home

Drop anything made of glass from that high and see if it cracks/breaks.

No one will believe you that just pressing on glass will crack it.

Stick a screen protector over it and keep using it until you can afford to replace it.

Yes to hell with health care, we need universal iPhone coverage, there are people out there that can't afford to have their iPhone repaired, this is a moral issue. Oh the humanity:p

I gotta admit...I lol'd

broken glass

I have read all of the recent comments, Wow! My reason for asking is that I was reading info from an online sight and found that there were numerous devices for sale with cracked glass, water damage and broken ringers. I realize that this a broad spectrum of topics but I wanted to get some feed back from any of you before I go purchase an iphone to replace my razor and curve.

Pff, some of you are really Apple-lovers-and-protectors. I understand him. I mean, if you know you can get a replacement for free than he should go for it. It's not like AT&T and Apple suddenly won't have any money any more, they won't miss it. In fact they are already asking way to much money for the iPhone if you look at the materials of the iPhone.

And jesus, $100 for a replacement?! Happy to live in NL. Good contract with T-Mobile (30 euros a month, 150 minutes calling, 150 texting messages, unlimited (so no fair-use-policy, really unlimited) data on all networks. A bit slow 3G network compared to some places in the USA: 2Mbps but from what I know it's in a lot of places in the USA even slower so...). Never experienced dropped calls and good 3G signal both outside and inside a building so...

But again $100?! I pay 6,95 per month so I'm covered for water damage, fall damage etc. - if it's my own fault (so if I dropped it in the water or something like that) I only have to pay 30 euros (so almost $45). Next to that I've the standard free garantuee.

So each month a little bit more than 35 euros (35 euros is about 50 dollars). Than I've got a whole data plan, 150 call minutes, 150 texting messages, unlimited data usage, almost everywhere 3G with 2Mbps, covered for water damage and all that sort of stuff and in case it's my own fault I can get a replacement for 30 euros, otherwise free replacements.

you lost me..all i see is blah blah blah... btw you repeat yourself.

Apple needs to make tougher phones. This one-drop and break method is a load of ****. I really wish that they weren't so fragile so I wouldn't have to worry about always having a case on it, and fearing the worst if I drop it. I figure, if I'm paying $300 for a phone, it better be the best ****ing phone on the market on all aspects--including durability.

Yeah, like when you buy a Ferrari, you can drive it into walls and it'll be fine ;)

I was playing with my friends dog tonight and my phone fell out of my coat pocket and fell on the concrete patio and the screen cracked from the ear piece, quarter way down and to the right. I think i will sue macy's for selling me that coat, Ralph Lauren for making that coat, my friend because it was his dog and then i will sue the breeder for breeding that dog.

Yea it will be fine, what's your point? I drove mine through Fort Knox last night and grabbed all the gold. Then I bought a ticket from the SGC and drove it through the chappa-ai to px448, where they have 0 dropped calls and cell towers every two feet. The cell towers mate and have little baby cell towers, so there's ne'er a loss of signal. And all through this, my Ferrari was fine.
