iOS 5.0.1, I would be down to 40-60% charge. I have tried 5.1 for two nights (8 hours sleep) and they were 91% and 93%.

I have even gone to switching some of the location based services back, and also Siri raise to ear.

I recharge it overnight and don't understand why some people don't.

iPhone 4S
IOS: 5.0
Battery Loss: 1%. Jailbroken, WiFi enabled, push for email, notifications enabled, alarm clock enabled, not plugged in, and 1 playlist going (roughly 13 songs).

Do you have an iCloud email address? Exchange? Do you have mobile data enabled? What about VOIP apps like Skype / Viber running in the background? What about iTunes Match?

I dont generally see anymore than a few percent. Maybe 2-4%? iPhone 4 5.1. Everything except bluetooth and fetch turned on

iCloud, yes.
Exchange: no. no Exchange server for me to use, nor would I want to! :D
Mobile data: yes.
No VOIP apps running. However, I have had other apps still running in the background (Banks, HuffPo, LiveATC.. I try to keep those to a minimum).
No iTunes Match running, either (haven't really had the time to sit down and play with it).

I think the key for me was that I waited roughly 3 months after the iPhone 4S was released before getting it, so I think I avoided a lot of the battery problems that the early adopters had. It gave Apple time to figure out what was going on, plus to replenish their stock.

I never paid attention to this since I don't really have a problem with the battery life, but apparently I lost 16% in 7 hours. Still on 5.0.1..

Considering I leave mine plugged in overnight, none.

iPhone 4
iOS 4.3

Losing 5-45% with Skype backgrounded, notifications on, 3G on, Fetch off, bluetooth off, wifi off, 3-4 at&t "bars."

The hell? Why don't you people leave it charging overnight? I do. I don't have battery issues. I don't have to charge ever again until I go to bed again.

And I use my iPhone a lot. I also have everything turned on except BT.

iPhone 4S
iOS 5.1

I lose 1-2% overnight, with mail set to Manual.

But, normally, I leave my phone charging overnight. I figure that's the optimal way to get the best battery usage from a day. It's like a cycle, come to think about it.

If my iPhone has WiFi on, then I loose 20%
If WiFi is off, only a few %

The usage time goes up dramtically with WiFi on. Not just the battery drain.

For example
WiFi on : 6 hours standby : 2 hours usage
WiFi off : 9 hours standby : 10 mins usage

What is my iPhone doing when the WiFi is on?

iCloud back is off

Why? Just curious.

Sorry for the late response.

Coming from Android battery preservation was of the utmost importance. Due to this, I've done a fair amount of reading on BatteryUniversity.com and charging powered off gives a full charge without things background syncing and "fooling" the charge process.

I lose about 1-2% with wifi on.....to save some battery reset all network settings and turn off raise to speak with Siri. That will definitely save you some juice.

I always charge my phone up at night but the few times I didn't have a charger with me it fell anywhere from 5 to 10% (on 5.1)

This is good to know if you are interested in the specifics. I normally plug my phone in overnight, or turn it off which will save the battery life.

I lose about only 1% overnight on my iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1.1. It's been this way since I got the phone. Because I have the low data plan I turn off data when I'm not using it and I always have my Wi-Fi off unless I need it also so no power draining wireless connection is on when I'm asleep. I have noticed my battery drains quicker when I leave my 3G data connection on even when I'm not using it.

Another thing I do is calibrate my battery by fully depleting it and then fully recharge it uninterruptedly when I notice it starts to drain too quickly. I do this about once every 2 months.

iPhone 4, 5.0.1.
I always charge while I'm sleeping. But if I forget, it might drop 1%.

3G, 5 alarms, a few reminders (time remind only), no wifi, manual mail, no diagnostic & usage data, no "system services" in location services, no push notifications, no iCloud over 3G.

Forgot to put my phone in airplane mode last night and was surprised to see it only used 2% overnight.

However I've turned 3G off as I'm at home for a few days where I have wifi coverage.

On 3G I normally loose around 8-10% so I normally put it in airplane mode.

Seems EDGE is just as good which really baffled me this morning seeing 98% left on the phone. Only a few emails came in during the night.

I went to bed last night around 11pm and phone was at 100% battery life. Woke up this morning at 4:30am and battery was still at 100%. That's with email pulling every 15 minutes and wifi on, had the NBA Game Time app sending me notifications about the game and bluetooth off.

It's 4:55 now and phone finally went down to 99%.
