Can you install firmware on a brick? Then your phone was never a brick.
DFU mode

You guys are misusing the term "brick". It's not bricked if you still see something on the screen. Simply restore or if necessary get into DFU mode to get it back to factory.
I've got the same issue. It's obviously fixable, but the real question is what went wrong? The phone worked fine before the reboot.
Im having a serious problem. The screen shut off an the phone has been vibrating for the last 1+ hours. None of the buttons work, I can't put it into DFU mode.
I finally was able to get into Recovery Mode. I had to let my battery completely drain with a constant Apple logo until you get the "battery needs to be charged" logo, thats when my computer would finally recognize the phone and I was able to get into recovery mode.
jnicks510 said:ok so i tried everything from restoring to changing the hosts file and i still cant get my iphone 4 to work. everytime i try to update i get this message "the iphone "iphone" cannot be restored. this device isnt eligible for requested build." i have tried multiple builds and even just simply clicked the restore button on itunes. idk what else to do but to take it to apple. has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?
i only had the one that entered
But it is good to recommend people do backups before doing this jailbreak. Sure wish I had done one recently.
Can someone please help me? I got an iPhone that is stuck at Apple logo and figured it was an easy fix, but has become nothing but stressful, I have tried everything in this thread, I can't get itunes to see this iPhone no matter what I do, I have tried to re jailbreak it using the software the previous owner used, no luck there either, I have read to download IOS 4 and I can't install because the computer doesn't see the iPhone, anyone have anything else that I could try?? All your answers are very much appreciated
