I've got the same issue. It's obviously fixable, but the real question is what went wrong? The phone worked fine before the reboot.

You guys are misusing the term "brick". It's not bricked if you still see something on the screen. Simply restore or if necessary get into DFU mode to get it back to factory.

For most people, 'does not boot as quickly as it used to' = BRICK.

The jailbreak messed something up that isn't obvious immediately but when the bootroom notices the changed firmware and something fails.

Im having a serious problem. The screen shut off an the phone has been vibrating for the last 1+ hours. None of the buttons work, I can't put it into DFU mode.

I finally was able to get into Recovery Mode. I had to let my battery completely drain with a constant Apple logo until you get the "battery needs to be charged" logo, thats when my computer would finally recognize the phone and I was able to get into recovery mode.

have you tried the hard reboot trick, hold power and home for 10 seconds till screen flashes off and back to apple logo?

Phone won't restore after failed JB

My phone isn't bricked -- but I don't see much use in creating a new thread for a similar topic.

I have an iPhone 4 (ios 4.0), attempted jailbreakme and kept receiving 'invalid file' message.

I launched it a second time, and jailbreakme.com displayed a message that it detected a failed install and to try again. It continued to fail.

At that point, I decided to wait and let the load on the servers subside, and started to upgrade the phone to 4.01. The upgrade process took over 3 hours. At that point, I killed itunes, and unplugged the phone -- which left it in DFU / restore mode.

Subsequent attempts at restoring the phone to 4.01 continue to hang -- last night I let it run overnight, no progress after 8 hours.

The iTunes progress bar shows about 98% completion, while the progress bar on the phone shows about 60% completion.

I've tried different cables, different PCs to no avail. Does anyone have any thoughts before I take this thing to the Apple store with my tail between my legs?

Thanks!

JB the phone quickly and easily, no loss of MMS (didn't try facetime.) When I went to make a call, I had a "call forwarding active" message dialoge pop up. Reset network settings, then the phone rebooted. At this point, I had the same issue with the phone being "stuck" at the Apple logo. Restored from backup and re-synced my data. I'm reluctant to try to re-jailbreak. Anyone else know what could have caused the hanging at the apple logo issue, and does anyone know if it's been resolved?

So does this method work on the iPhone 4 or not? Seems like a lot of issues after reboot.

I "bricked" my iPhone after doing the jailbreakme.com.

Pure paniced! lol Was stuck on the Apple logo, but i got it restoring.

I'm no messing with jailbreaks :p Thought my iPhone 4 was gone lol.

Thank goodness for little things called backups haha.

i tried to restore my phone after jailbreak and now its stuck in dfu mode
it starts to restore and stops 2/3 of the way through

what do i do?

I tried a hard reset and doing it all over again but i get the same thing

In other words, your phones wasn't "bricked after jailbreak" after all?

Check for multiple hosts. I had 3-4 apple.gs host entries

help!!!!

Can someone please help me? I got an iPhone that is stuck at Apple logo and figured it was an easy fix, but has become nothing but stressful, I have tried everything in this thread, I can't get itunes to see this iPhone no matter what I do, I have tried to re jailbreak it using the software the previous owner used, no luck there either, I have read to download IOS 4 and I can't install because the computer doesn't see the iPhone, anyone have anything else that I could try?? All your answers are very much appreciated

Simple question:

How do you make a backup before you jailbreak?

I don't have iTunes installed.

I'm currently gathering information to jailbreak iOS 5 when I get it in September.

thank you for directing me to the video, i apologize if i am just slow or something but he says in the video to just shift restore? where am i supposed to be seeing this?? i cant even tell if i successfully got the iphone into DFU mode, it does nothing....apple logo, saying its connected to itunes, and a blank black screen is all i have seen this thing do....Its sitting at a black screen after following instructions per the video, but when i press shift i see no restore anywhere??
