iPhone 4 iOS 7.1.2: won't sync with iTunes 11.4

Hello,

My dad is trying to sync his iPhone 4 iOS 7.1.2 with iTunes 11.4 on the Mac, which is running Snow Leopard.

These are the latest versions of software available.

The sync button on iTunes is grayed out.

I couldn't seem to find out if these versions of iOS and iTunes are compatible with eachother. Any tips would be appreciated.

I can't remember the versioning iTunes, but iTunes stopped supporting any iOS older than 9 I believe.

May be a support/version issue as the other poster said. I was able to restore/sync my 4 on 7.1.2 but I was running Leopard and I believe a version of iTunes 10.

I synced my vintage 4 running 7.1.2 on Sierra running the latest iTunes. Just yesterday.
