iPhone 4: screen shut off, phone wont stop vibrating

Mines been doing this from at least seven thirty. It's now like 1:05 . Makes me rage because I work nightnshift and it's kept me up most of the day . I cant reset it because my home button doesn't work . I know my battery was only on at least 40 % there's only so much longer this can go on right ? :mad:

I have an iPhone 3g that gave me this same problem. I got the phone as a refurbished replacement. I ended up letting the phone die and charged it and the phone worked just fine. A few days later (today) my phone screen all of a sudden turned white with pink lines going up and down the screen. Then I got a blue screen of death-type message on the screen that basically said that the phone had no more opperating system. I am now trying to do a restore through iTunes for the fourth time, but still no luck. I don't know if the problems are related in anyway, or if the iOS problems are part of the reason that the phone was refurbished in the first place.

I have only had the refurbished phone for about 2 weeks. Before, I had another refurbished replacement phone that lasted me over a year before it started giving me problems (the home screen button stopped working completely). I don't know what is going on. I would appreciate any feedback that I can get.

I haven't upgraded to the new iPhone 4 yet ( I get my upgrade in a couple of months), but I am seriously considering going with a different smart phone...I have had WAYYYYYYYY too many problems with this phone.
 
Screen shut odd,phone wont stop vibrating

The only way we It could be fixed is by pressing the lock and the home key together fr 20 sec..which will reboot the phone..This happened to me while I was driving and the phone was connected to the car charger...N it was a genuine apple car charger,suddenly screen shut off and phone stated vibrating with none of the keys working..My phone was 100% charged and The Idea of waiting for the phone to switch of was never an option for me as it would have taken at least 6-7 hrs...And the worst part is I got this my Iphone 4 from canada and I was in India at this time so apple store here wont repair or replace this..I was not at all happy and and was thinking I should have gone for so nice HTC or a samsung Android phone so that wud have got repaired easily in India..Then I tried hard reboot i.e lock key and home key pressed together fr 20 sec..suddenly the phone stopped vibrating and apple log appeared and phone stated....I guess Its known issue with the Iphone 4 and apple should work on it....
 
Problem...

Hey guys. I had the exact same thing happen to me. Randomly my iphone 4 started vibrating and the screen turned off. I tried the hard reset thing for even over a minute and it still didn't work. So i tried to let the battery die and it did and now it won't even turn on when i plug it in. Im thinking a new battery may fix it, but what do yall think?

my iphone 4 just started vibrating and black screen. I first panicked and then checked on this forum. From varying your advice I have stopped it by plugging into itunes, then holding the HOME button at the same time as OFF button for about 5 secs. It just stopped doing it. It is now happily synching. Seems fine panic over
 
Same thing happened to me

The same exact thing happened to me. Is there ANY way I can get it to turn on and stop vibrating!?

i think this type of problem is common in apple i phone specially i phone 4:
i am a user of the same handset. i bought the phone on 23rd may 2011 this sudden vibration problem happened to me twice since then. i got it repaired this could be bacause of the voltage in India..which keeps on fluctuating every now and then. this is definitely a delicate phone. i didn't tried any of the ways to stop the vibration..i was at work when i ran away to the nearest phone repairing store to get my battery opened. i will try all other options which i just read here...i will re-insert my battery..someone told me that if battery finishes completely in this case the phone will die forever..its motherboard could be dead...so i didn't take a chance as this gadget is costly.

Help!

My screen just shut off out of nowhere and now it wont stop vibrating. I have tried hard resting it and plugging it into iTunes...nothing works!
 
Same here

iPhone4 screen went black and it started vibrating. Had to hold down home/power buttons together for 10 secs and then restart it. Seems OK at the moment. Last problem was the audio constantly stuck in headphone mode. I'm glad I still have my iPhone3 in a box because if this 4 keeps doing bizarre random tricks it's going to visit Uncle Steve in heaven.
 
This happened to me, and here's how to fix it...

My screen all of a sudden went completely white and the phone started vibrating. I tried letting it run the battery down, and restoring it, and plugging it into my computer...nothing worked. Then I heard that I needed to set the phone to DFU mode (you can look it up). That fixed it for me...

this just happened to me afew days ago..my iphone 4 just blacked out and started vibrating non stop for about 10 seconds..many thanks for your posts,..the winner is: hold the power and home button for about 10 seconds..the apple logo will appear on the screen and the phone will restart...Jah bless:)

This happened to me I just came back to the mall with my friends and happened to be at the Apple store today. And i came back home I fell asleep woke up probably 10:45ish. and I got all these texts and calls from different people and I looked at my batt and it was on 1% so i ran in the living room to get my charger and i texted my girlfriend till 1ish then My friend repeatdly kept calling on facetime.. I rejected them till the last one and i talked maybe for 10 minutes then hung up and when i was about to text my gf. The messagener kept freezing up? So i thought to my self well.. this is probably just a glitch and lag and tried to force close the messagner and it kept happening repeatdly. Then i did it hey maybe 3 or 4 times and it shut off and then power back up to the apple icon then you know how it shows that circle when it loads? well i looked at it and it will spin around prob 2 or 3 times and then would vibrate. IT HAPPENED AT THIS TIME A DAY. but luckily for me it was low. THANK GOD cause this noise is sooooo D*** annoying. So i looked at solutions and i saw this link and looked at your guys posts but your saying that your screen is Completely off. But then prob 2 min in this it show my lock screen and it put the biggest smile on my face but then it went right back to what it was doing..... Its 1:36 right now and im telling you this wait for this thing to go competely dead feels like years.... why couldnt this happen at the mall?! But i got this phone probably the 2nd week of june and today is july 2nd. I will post what happens when it goes fully dead.:mad: :( BY THE WAY ITS A IPHONE 4S

Same thing just happened to me!

I tried holding down the lock and home key at the same time but it just kept turning off and then had the loading symbol which would go around a couple of times but then it would freeze. I let it do this for a couple of minutes thinking it just had a bug that it had to work out but then it started to randomly vibrate. I then held the lock key and home key down together for 10 seconds and it turned the phone off and rebooted itself and now it is working fine! Thanks!
 
Same problem

Hi, my iPhone 4S is doing the exact same thing, but when i let the battery run and charge back, same problem. I put it into safe mode an restored it on iTunes and it's still not working. Home + Hold also doesn't work, so if anybody knows anything about this or other button combos, please inform me.
 
this happened to me today on my iphone 4 i read that you have to press the homebutton and the other one but my homebutton is broken so then i read more comments and it said to just wait until the battery is at 0 but that would take a really long time because my battery was at 100 when it happened but i still decided to wait :rolleyes: it took about 7 hours but it worked!!!!:D I'm so happy so if you get this problem dont go to the genius bar they are dummer than you :cool: well hope this helps you too :apple:

this happened to me too my homebutton is also broken and mine was at 100% took about 7 hours :(
 
Ummmm Fixed?

Okay this so called 'error' happened to my I Phone 4 once, I let it die (which took ages since I was on 100% while my phone was on charge) I have no reason why this happens, the next day it happens again, which was different I tried to let it die, didnt work so I held the 'Power Button' and the 'Home Button' Until in told me to put it on charge, So I did, now it has white around the charging thingy (When I was writing this) What do I do?
HELP ME, I DID WHAT I SAID BUT NOW THE THERE IS A FLASHING WHITE CIRCLE???

Sorry if I'm bumping this but I do want to report I had this issue and found the thread by a Google search. I was in Safari, typing in "Tim Cook Ga," and Safari crashed. It was no big deal, but I put my phone in my pocket and waited to check about a half hour later. I pull my phone out of my pocket, And the screen would not turn on, even if I use the button or the sleep button. I knew the phone was dead, so I tried to reset it. Didn't work. Tried charging, and the phone started vibrating. Holding in the home and sleep buttons fixed it during that time.

same with my phone right now , it's almost an hour but still it vibrating , I don't know what to do :(

Have you tried holding the lock button and the home button together (assuming your buttons are functional) for about 30 seconds until the phone restarts? What about plugging the phone in? Is the phone set to silent/vibrate, and have you tried changing that using the switch on the side to see if that has any effect?

same but my iphone 4s was on 70% but then it just switched off but I can hear vibrating sounds
