the reason they turn out "grayish" is they're a little too light on top. had to add a "bar mustache" on them and they still show a faint line on the bottom of the status bar...

could you give me the specfics on making that shadow i really like the look it gives off do you change anything or just click the gradient syle in PS

select the "Gradient Tool" and then choose the color to use and the opacity of the color. color and opacity selected vary depending on the picture.
