Oh interesting. Thanks MRU. Maybe I'll give it a go...

UPDATE: Brilliant app! It allows you to disable things you can't disable normally. Sweet!

Is there a list somewhere of all the Samsung stuff that is "safe" to disable? Safe meaning it won't turn off service and stuff I actually need for normal phone function?

There's a thread on XDA with people continually updating. I'll find it for you later.

Their auto mode turns off 'safe' to turn off things.

Package disabler is very powerful but you may have to accept if your too aggressive turning stuff off you may cause your phone to have issues and have to start either in safe mode to re-enable or worse case scenario factory reset from recovery. Either way it won't trip Knox or change your official status.

And yes some folks found it helps free up some memory BUT doesn't fix aggressive ram as that's how Samsung have opted / coded new versions of Touchwiz to operate.

Depends if you can handle touchwiz. Touchwiz ruined the Samsung experience for me in the end and because of that I'm back with Apple but both phones are great devices. Just depends if you want to go away from what you are used to

Do you have other apple devices? As it's hard to leave due to syncing across all devices.

If you do go with note 5 or edge plus I would go with edge plus. I have the S6 edge and the design is stunning and on a huge device it looks better to me

I have 2 macbooks and an ipad mini. I don't really use any of the features for transferring stuff from one device to another. My only concern would be that I have tons of music in iTunes and like to stream in my car from my phone.

Or what about the S6 Edge Plus rather than the Note 5?

I'm getting an Edge+, simply because the Note 5 isn't available here. But if I were able to get the Note 5, I don't think I would. The Edge+ is a stunning phone, and provides an immersive experience. That among with some pretty useful features like information stream, night clock, and people/apps edge. The Note 5 offers an S Pen, which provides some features as well, like quick notes and screen capture, the curved back, which should be very useful for holding in the hand, along with a cheaper price tag. It's your decision.

I have both and really enjoy both. I like the Note 5 better, but if I could only chose one it would be the iphone because I'm deep in the Apple ecosystem. I have an ipad, mac, Apple tv, and apple watch plus I have a ton of movies and TV shows I bought in itunes. All of my family except my wife uses an iPhone (she just switched to my old note 4 and loves it).

In the end I guess it depends how entrenched you are in apples ecosystem. If you don't mind losing that, the Note 5 is awesome and would definitely recommend it. Maybe you should try it and if you don't like return it for the 6S plus?

Your music should be drm free, so you should be able to load them into Google play music and stream from there.

Won't work with movies or TV shows though as they are drmed.

I recently sold my iPhone 6 Plus and ordered a new 6s Plus that will arrive 9/25. I was all excited about it until I went to AT&T and discovered the new Edge+ and Note 5. I was blown away by their speed and vibrant screens. I've never been a fan of Samsung. I figured no I should stay with the iPhone since I have all Apple products but I can't quit thinking about it. I keep telling myself that the iPhone 6s wasn't that much of a change so maybe I should switch to Android for a year. I've had every iPhone since the 3gs. Any opinions? Am I just going nuts because I've had to use a flip phone for a week now? Lol
So.....do what I did. I got both phones. I have the Note 5 and iPhone 6 Plus. I switch between the 2 phones weekly or just whenever. Best of both worlds! :)

I went to AT&T again and I don't think I like the feel of the S6 Edge+. It feels kind of weirdly weighted. I could live with the note 5 though. It's such a tough decision without the 6s being released yet.

Only do it if you can stand the Samsung jank and lag. I tried it and hated that. I know many will deny it, but it's still there after Samsung said it has slimmed it down. Not enough imo.

By jank and lag do you mean not running smoothly? I haven't experienced that in my use using a store demo isn't real world experience.

Samsung is the only manufacture that competes with Apple wit specs. It all comes down to TouchWiz and iOS. TouchWiz has improved but some will argue that the "Lag" and "refreshing" of apps are still there but YMMV.

I personally think it's worth giving TW a try. Just make sure to purchase Package Disabler from the Play store and disable the Bloat that comes with ATT devices.

But, if you've been on iOS for years now, it's probably best to stick with Apple.
This is not true, alot of Chinese brands can compete with Apple and Samsung based onspecs and design.

Give it a try. Personally I got sick of Samsung quality control, they make incredible phones but they have way too many issues.

I have that issue on my S6 edge..it's a big reason i headed back to iPhone.

People have said those the issues aren't as bad on the note 5 and edge plus though.

My rooted and ROM'd T-Mobile Note 5 is buttery silky smooth, and warp speed fast.

I owned an iPhone 6 Plus back in the winter, and this Note 5 is every bit as snappy and split second responsiveness.

Zero lag here. Zero " jank ". Just smooth as flowing water.
Plus amazingly good batttey life, getting 6h Screen On time.

Thanks for all the help! I think that I'm just going to stick with Apple. I don't think that I wsnt to mess with transferring music and everything to a different interface. Plus from what I read it seems as though there are issues with the phones/software due to the fact that the software isn't made specifically for the phone like Apple does.

Good choice. Touchwiz in my opinion is really bad comparing it to stock android or ios.

I'm in similar situation,I have many Apple products and like them, and I own an iPhone 6,however I was blown away by the design and screen qaulity of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
There is simply mo comparisson, design and screen wise, the S6 Edge Plus destroys iPhone 6s Plus.
I just don't see enough there to justify spending money on iPhone 6s/ 6s Plus and I'm definitely tired of the body design.

So I'd say go for it,giveit a try for a year, until they make some real changes and release iPhone 7.
That's what I'm gonna do anyway.
