iPhone 6 Reboots Overnight

Hi All - I need some advice. I believe this started with the iOS 9 release. At purely random times, when I unlock my phone first time in the morning, it won't accept my fingerprint and requires my 6 digit code to unlock. I'm assuming the phone is rebooting overnight or is something else causing this? This only happens randomly and always the first time unlocking in the morning. This has never happened at any other time of day.

Any thoughts?

Launch Messages app → Tap on Edit from the top left corner → Select all the messages you want to delete → then tap on Delete from the bottom right corner.

Are you saying that space is the issue? I'm using 40% of my space and I've run into this before. Most recently, about a week ago. I do not think it has to do with space.

I have plenty of space left on my 64gb iPhone. Also, I only keep the apps I use on a regular basis.

take it in. i had a similar problem with my previous IP6. turns out logic board was bad. swapped out on the spot.

There have been threads about people experiencing similar things for some time. Not sure if everyone is experiencing it because of the same underlying thing, but it's something that various people have certainly come across.

My 5S does the same thing. On random mornings it will say I need to enter the passcode after restarting.

It is a warranty replacement I received a few months ago just before my AppleCare expired. I *think* my previous faulty 5S had the same problem but I can't remember.

I'm on jailbroken iOS9.0.1(same as the previous 5S) so I just assumed it was related to some tweak or other. I tried using CrashReporter but it never found anything related to the restart.

Is yours jailbroken as well?

Wondering if it might be something server-side that Apple did.

Ha! This am it happened to me also. I chalked it up to a glitch in the matrix.

No it's not jail broken but it sounds like it's same thing I'm experiencing.

I'm on the beta. 9.2 beta 3 last night. Upgraded to beta 4 today.

iCloud backup is off; I don't backup betas to iCloud in case I have to replace my device on the go.

Hmm. Because I can't imagine anything else iOS-related that would cause the device to reboot. I haven't encountered this issue ever on my 6s or 5s.

Check your logs and see what you find logged for when you were sleeping that resulted in a reboot (Settings > Privacy > Diagnostics & Usage).

Great suggestion! For the day in question it says System Memory Reset. Not sure what to look for. It also says that system memory exceeded limit.

Alright, so observe the "eventReason" which states that the memory exceeded a limit, probably the idle page limit iOS has. That's bizarre, but that's what caused iOS to crash. Interesting.
