Just FYI, I managed to do this without a special toolkit. An exacto knife will unscrew the main two screws at the lightening port. I had a small screw driver from the internal screws. I also successfully used a regular screw driver covered in electrical tape to wedge open the sides. Furthermore, I used a suction cup from my son's hot wheel bath tub toy. So where there's a will, there's a way. No kit needed.

You inspired me to use an exacto knife, my kids' suction cup bath toy and a jeweler's screwdriver for the screws on the inside. Took no time at all.

I sandwiched 4 pieces of electrical tape between the connectors and the metal shield and screwed it all back together.

It's already working better, hope it lasts. FINGERS CROSSED!!!

Just did this for my iPhone 6 plus. Wish I would have taken photos or a video of the process but it was pretty simple. I'm wondering if the fix has more to do with just unplugging and re-seating the cables. Anyhow, did that and applied electrical tape to the backing. Doing this now makes me feel not so intimidated to swapping out my battery for a fresh new one. I'm really hoping this fix holds, I kinda need my phone to be stable and working properly for future drone flights.

I also had this problem with my 6 plus which had been driving me crazy for a week. Before trying the fix on this thread with the electrical tape I just lay the phone screen side down on a flat surface and applied gentle pressure on the back where the plug would be. It is now working completely fine, not sure if its a lasting solution but it's worked for me.
Its nice to know that there are good people like Mdsune and metanoia72 around to help others. I tried your process because it was simple and straight forward. The critical part is -- applying gentle pressure :) AND it worked ( at least for last 3 hrs ). Hope it continues. Thanx a ton metanoia72

Mdsune, you rock! I had this issue for 2 weeks, phone was completely unusable; just stumbled on your solution. I put extreme tape as you suggested and problem solved! Thanks again!
I fixed my phone with the tape and it was perfect...for a while, but the problem has returned again! Now what do I do?

Please try the method posted by metanoia72 i.e. just lay the phone screen side down on a flat surface and apply gentle pressure on the back where the plug would be ( ie around the apple logo. The critical part being the amount of pressure, we don't want the display screen to crack :) It has worked for me like a charm and going steady for last 36 hrs or so. All the best.

Thank you so much! I tried the pressure and, so far, so good! We'll see if it lasts.

Thank you for the repair information. I never mentioned that I have an iphone 5s and it seems that the repair is only for the 6 and 6-plus. I will give it a try anyway. Thanks again!

I am having the same exact problem with my Iphone 6 Plus 128 gig. Originally, I was having problems with the screen recognizing my touches. It would be unresponsive and I would do a reboot and then it would be fine until it happened again, a few days later. Now the phone goes crazy. I have tried to troubleshoot by turning off various network setting (WiFi, Bluetooth) thinking this would help. Finally, I put the phone into Airplane Mode and when I do the problems continue until I do a hard reboot. Then when I restart the phone everything is fine until I turn off the Airplane Mode and then the phone goes crazy again. I am going to my carrier T-Mobile today and see if they will swap out my phone.

Anyone have any solutions?
[doublepost=1553110361][/doublepost]Been struggling with this exact problem. Tried everything including opening up the phone and trying a tape fix learned on another site. Nothing worked until I turned on airplane mode. Could tell right away touch screen was now stable.

You responded to a post made 3 years ago and the poster hasn’t been on this forum since then...

^ Well, at least he replied to his question. Man, I created this thread back in 2015. I haven't had any more iPhone issues since then. Pretty crazy.

Curious if anyone has had the touchscreen on the i6 go crazy on you? The touchscreen thinks you are touching everything at once and goes nuts. Apps open by themselves, the screen scrolls up down sideways when browsing the web, and it gets non responsive. It fixes itself after a few and then at random, starts again. Turning it off/on used to work now it's constant. I already did a settings reset. It fixed the problem for about a day. It started again. It seems like I need to do a factory reset. It's sad though, never have I had any issues with my prior iPhones. And I always start fresh, I never use old backups from old models.

Is this a known issue with these models?
[doublepost=1561233880][/doublepost]I know how you feel because I’m facing the same issue. I think it’s a production issue. It’s happening to my iPhone 6 right now. I’ve managed to find a way to stop it temporarily, but it doesn’t take long to come back. The method ,I use go stop it, is clicking the on/off button repeatedly 5 times. I hope that was helpful!

I had exact same thing with my 6. The only way around was to take it off cellular. Phone worked fine on wifi only so I gave it to my kid to use as a wifi only device.
