Thanx for posting...always good to read tests like this.

Blind tests take some of the voter preference away, leaving it about the photos (one hopes).

Good reading...(and pleased that the 6s did reasonably well). According to AndroidAuthority, the 6s won 2 tests, and 3 others at #2. Not quite #1 but ok.

I note though that the Samsung s7 wasn't in the group. Oh well...maybe next time.

That's because the test were done in October 2015 and the S7 was not out yet

Yeah I know the links are to an android site. However the iphone is included in the list of cameras, and it comes second over all, even ahead of the S7. Have a look at the pictures, not the greatest from any of the phones as far as I can figure...

Blind test.. Pictures only, no idea which camera too which photo until Results posted

Now that makes sense, a blind test. Best if photo taker and photo reviewer have no idea what picture came from what phone. That would be a valid test.

So what?...all the cameras are judged by the same criteria regardless.

And the pictures they used were from a decent variety.

Taking 100 photos from iphone from similar spot then show the best one
Taking 100 photos from an android from similar spot then show the worst one
Repeat this for 10 different location to make it sounds fair
and you are saying something like that would not affect the result?

Are we talking about the same review? I'm talking about the blind test.

Edit: I see what you mean...but that's true for any test.

Subjectively I haven't cared about the changes to smartphone cameras since my 4S.

I'd love to see all the masterworks that everyone is doing that demand the refinement that only the top performing smartphone camera of the moment can provide.

The person using the iPhone has advanced Parkenson's and the android reviewer uses a tripod. Repeat for ten locations to make it sound fair and you are saying something like that would not affect the result?
See I can create a ridiculous straw man argument just like you. What does that prove?
If you don't trust the review sight then ignore it.

I was creating a straw man argument like you did but biasing in other direction. Based on your thread title I see this thread as another iPhone bashing attempt. I don't think a person can go wrong with any of the phone cameras. The tiny lenses and sensors all do remarkably well for what they are, a phone with built in compromised camera. If the prime reason someone chooses a phone is because of the camera, they would be better served picking an actual camera, DSLR.

What does it matter? So you can say your phone of choice is better than another? Or is anyone here going to sell their phone and buy the one with a higher DXO score? Both phones are at about the same quality now, the differences are minor at this point.

Unless your talking low light, the S7 and HTC 10 are using newer cameras which are much better in low light. Don't worry, sure the next iPhone will be just as good if not better when it comes out in the fall.

Look at the sensor size, why do you think iphone photo quality matches any 2015 or 2016 android flagship.

Because I've owned the 6S, 6S Plus, S6, Note 5, and S7 Edge and have used them as daily drivers for several months (the S6 for 2 months, the Note 5 for 7 months, the S7 Edge since launch, the 6S Plus for 2 months and 6S for 4 months), and in decent lighting they're all about the same. Even Phone arena which was linked by the op agrees they stated:
phonearena said:
As for the iPhone 6s Plus, it may have finished in last place, but the score gap between it and its rivals is slim. It is almost negligible, we'd say. As usual, the iPhone excels in speed and ease of use, which makes it an excellent choice for photographers of any level of expertise.

I agree with some and disagree with some. Camera phones are not dull, but you are not going to be able to duplicate a shot for example, using a 1DX and a 35MM II L, with any cell phone camera with a photographer who knows exactly how use high-end equipment. Having said that here is what imore said:

And it was also clear that iMore is biased - see comments below the article - the S7 camera is the better camera - head to head it is obvious.

Let's hope Apple improves or they will be playing catch up

its not obvious to me the s7 camera is better in every single shooting instance.

As far as bias, that word is handily thrown around when conclusions don't match yours.

What about this blind test?

You were in a discussion about these test about a year ago and had a hard time accepting the result because it was a blind test. Now you are posting about blind test that favors the iPhone and it's all fine.

It's not obvious to you that the S7 camera is better because the result of the test doesn't favor the iPhone. The conclusion doesn't match yours so that's your bias right there. Learn to accept that there are other products that are better than the iPhone.

Sure, not in every way, shape and form.

I prefer DxO's opinion over other sites. As for arguing which has the best low light performance, could give little crap about that. It's all arguing over technicalities.
