After following this (and related) threads for several days, I should no longer be shocked when I see people who were bumped off of launch day within 6 minutes. That said, it's almost a visceral reaction. I'm not angry, but it is surprising and, if I'm being honest, mildly irritating that initial volumes were so inadequate.

FYI - I have the exact same phone configuration and dates, but I didn't get my email confirmation until about :10 after preorders began.

Ya. I've got less faith this year than last because of the late manufacturing start and only one week between day one of preorders and day one of deliveries.

It seems to be normal to have a limited volume of phones. I'm not sure if it's real, or an artificial limit to keep things in the news, or to ensure that they have the volume of phones available for their own retail stores so they can meet demands over the opening few weeks.

I think we would all love our phones on release day, but cant see it happening due to this constraint

I have to agree with you. Is getting old and very frustrating that Apple plays the "high demand" card every launch day when in fact is a low availability that creates this false sense of greater success than expected. As long
as we , the faithful customers continue to play that game, this will never go away.

I was pretty pissed yesterday, now I am just highly irritated.

The reason being is that the battery life on my current phone, a 128GB 6, is starting to drop a fair bit so the battery needs to be replaced. Well I was hoping that by busting my ass and getting a new phone ordered as fast as I could, I would not be in the position I am now as I am about to go into a month long assignment in the remote backcountry and will be using a small Goal Zero panel to keep the phone topped off.

The big jump in battery life on the 7+ would have really helped to mitigate power needs on those days when it was cloudy or snowing. If I don't get my phone by Monday or Tuesday, I am pretty much stuck with my current phone which I am now trying to figure out how to get a new battery put in fast, the closest Apple store is over 200 miles away.

Apple really screwed a lot of people this time around, not at all cool.

Rose gold 7+ 256GB for AT&T ordered through Apple Store app. Card charged Sunday or Monday. The phone has also been added to my Apple Support profile. It's "preparing to ship" on order status but I have tracking details thanks to my UPS MyChoice account. It will be here on 9/16.

I will head to a Verizon store Friday morning. It's clear my black 256 isn't coming for launch and it sucks. I appear to be one of the 1206 am confirmation guys that was bumped

ATT website updated the phone's specific line to a fulfillment of obligation date of Sept. 9, 2018 Used to be a 2017 date.
This at least points to the iPhone contract being entered into ATT's side. Only update as of now.

Interesting... My confirmation is extremely close...

Just got off the phone with the Verizon store near my house. according to them they got their shipment of iPhone 7's & 7+'s a day earlier than usual, and she assured to me that they did not receive any Jet Black phones of either size. This leads me to believe that there are not going to be any Jet Blacks on release day what so ever.
