I was going to keep my out of contract iPhone 6 for one more year but AT&T is offering $650 credit with trade-in which will cover the monthly cost of the iPhone 7. If I were to wait another year I doubt the iPhone 6 will be on the trade-in list or if AT&T even decides to offer it next year with the iPhone 8 upgrades.

I didn't place my 128GB Silver iPhone 7 order till approximately 1:30 AM 9/10/16 and still have a delivery date of 9/16. I suppose this just means the Silver is not in such high demand as the black & jet black. I also ordered the Apple leather case through my employer's Apple portal which gave me a whopping $4 off. IMO the Apple leather cases simply fit better than the myriad of cases available currently. Everything is scheduled to arrive 9/16/16.

I've talked about this already on this thread several times.. and as I mentioned I have a friend who's in fulfillment and shipment with AT&T.. And it's close to what you're saying.. But it's not the exact same drop shipping process that people get through Apple store app/online.. But "Preparing to Ship" IS somewhat accurate nonetheless in that, the Carriers won't be getting access to the shipments LATER than the Apple pre-order people.. The first people who ordered at ATT's site even before midnight WILL be getting EVEN their Jet Black Plus phones shipped on the same airplanes that Apple Store people will... But when they arrive from China they will be sitting at the Shipping Companies site for DAYS - even starting Monday all the way to Friday... because of Apple's 'laws' about release day. So you're right - double shipping isn't happening.. They're not going to ATT's warehouses first then on to UPS.. It's a drop ship situation.. BUT because the Carriers have an ALLOTMENT from Apple (to make sure their stores are stocked) ATT will never give a Launch Day Ship date. EVER.. (for the popular phones). They can't control Apple's 'allotments'. BUT.. our phones are WAY MORE than 'processing'.. When we see the words PREPARING FOR SHIPMENT we have '1' (no serial number allotted yet... but..) SET ASIDE for us, if you will.. And when we finally get our tracking numbers long about Thursday of this week... we'll see how our dang phones we sitting at UPS since Monday or Tuesday..

Again.. just read the Wednesday and Thursday posts from the threads last year on week 3 of September.. It's all right there from the last 2 years. So I'm just plain NOT worried ONE bit.. that my JetBlack 128GB 7Plus will be on my doorstep on Friday afternoon. People standing in line will get theirs way before we will as UPS and FedEx rarely ship in the am.. But...

Well anyway.. Not to belabor a dead horse.. though we will obsess for the next 4 days.. :).. But it's really not worth it. Would I LOVE to see my tracking number and 'follow my phone from China to US'.. sure.. LOL.. But it still won't get it here even '1 hour earlier' than Friday afternoon. :) ..not even for Apple app people..

So pretty much ATT guarantees no one a launch day date ordered through their site, and then guesses on their allotment to give estimated ship dates and hopes to get that number allotted. And as they get them allotted people's ship dates move up.

Sounds like a pretty dumb system Apple has everyone in! Why not just start production a few weeks early and say ok here ATT you have 100,000 of each color/size/capacity combination (the newer colors myabe a bit more), and here Verizon, Tmo, Sprint, etc. At least then they have some baseline number to know ok we have 100k orders we can take of each combination for the 16th, beyond that it will be 1 week later, and then 2 weeks, etc.

Truth is about 3 minutes before launch att website was partially loading. For the 7plus 128 gb black was already showing the 23 as the ship date before launch 12:01am

Just ordered the matte black 7 32gb and got a shipping date for this 16. Who knew? Guess no one wants the smaller ones!
Ordered the same configuration Saturday afternoon and it is still showing "In Progress". Ordered the 128gb matte black 15 minutes later and it shows "Preparing to ship" with delivery 10/7-10/14, so who knows.

Both of my phones ordered have a ship date of 9/15. so whoever said att will never give that as a ship date is wrong. If I remember correctly for the iPhone 5 there were pictures of the att warehouse where they had the phones ready to go they just needed to wait for the ship date. Apple has told all the companies how many they will get and how many each week. As with all launches there will be more available than they have said thats why most people will get it earlier than originally quoted. I swear some of you have never done a preorder before.

Apple stores will have them on launch. Went there last night. He said they'll have more leather cases than phones but you still want to get there early if you want one

My silicone case from Apple shipped yesterday with a delivery date of the 14th. Will get the case before the phone.

I also ordered a Peel case which should arrive before my phone.

Wife went to the AT&T store at 9:15AM EDT and ordered her Rose Gold iP7 128GB and it is preparing to ship with delivery by Sept. 16.

Meanwhile, my JB 256GB is slated for Oct. 28 to Nov. 4. :-(

Just interesting Apple.com Tmo and Verizon people are getting tracking already today and no one from ATT seems to have yet.

And they have us at preparing for shipping and my card is charged the up front tax on Next already. But a 9/23 to 9/30 estimate.

Just a mess with ATT

good ol' AT&T

Someone let me know when At&t begins the shipping, I have a shipping date of Sept. 23rd. But the same thing happened last year and I got my phone on time. I hope the same thing happens this year!

Same here. The only positive thing is that no one for at least a matte black Plus who ordered through ATT had a launch day delivery. I've had 9/23 from the start. I'm sure we are going to see a good bit of those change tomorrow or by Wednesday.

I can't stan att and their lies and unorganized company

I hope to think we're just looking at bookkeeping issues, as a massive amount of phones were ordered and everything takes time to update. Hopefully we'll all see our phones next friday.
I think that we all will get our phones on launch day

DING! DING! DING! DING! .. Yes! You get it perfectly!! So I just yawn and think (ho, hum - here the masses go again... year after year... wondering why the don't see any 9/16 shipping dates for the popular phones... ). Carriers' hands are tied.. until Apple says "you get X phones"..

Thats EXACTLY what Apple already does. % Allotments we're settled weeks ago based on apples projections from their suppliers in China. On par for 8 million units this year for launch. AT&T gets their allotment and fans our shipping date ranges out across a window of time for trying to keep up with supply being made. If production is better than a certain level based on those percentages then AT&T gets to start moving the shipping dates up once they get actual counts from Apple early this week.

I don't really know any other way Apple and the carriers could work together on this process. Seems like the only system that will work. And it's actually, once you understand what's going on, accurate in what they're reporting to us with the ship dates in terms of their "current supply".. which is technically zero.. :).. Hence everything's a backorder - for the moment.

Also.. The Gold 6+ year (2014) their production goals were 5 million.. 99% got 6+ on launch day.

The RoseGold 6S+ year (2015) 7 million - 99% got popular phone on launch day.

This year - production was moved up to 8 million....

Do the math..... and relax..

Not by tomorrow - maybe the 32GB Matte Black phones.. Slightly less popular. But more like Wed and Thursday for MatteBlack 128/256. JetBlack people will be freaking out by Tuesday as the RoseGold Plus people were last year same time (and there were 2 weeks wait time last year). Shipping dates for RoseGold folks didn't change until Thursday of the SECOND week of waiting last year..

With 8 million produced and ATT being by far the largest of the Carriers (no matter what Verizon sales reps tell you lol!) will be 9/23 ship dates on Matte Black moving up to 9/16 early in the week - Tuesday.. later ones on Wed.

Jet Black 128GBs (most popular this year) will see the Oct13 dates move 1-2 weeks earlier no earlier than Wed late.. Then LATE Thursday 8-9pm your time - you'll get a tracking number showing 9/16... without ever having seen any more move up in ship dates or maybe never having seen any update all week. Thru 8pm on Thursday some of you will still be seeing 10/13-10-20... You'll be freaking and by 8-9pm you'll get tracking for Friday.. Some JetBlack won't even see their tracking info til Friday midnight or after..

It can be very stressful.. But not to me.. Been here done this for 3 years already. :)

Hope so - I'll have to wait for FedEx or UPS to deliver from AT&T preorder.

I called again today. They resubmitted my order as it was stuck in pending with the same ship dates. So annoying. Clearly, the CS rep didn't know what she was talking about yesterday.

Status changed to preparing for shipment this morning for 9/16. Initially had a 9/23-9/30 shipment date.

I also have AT&T business premiere so hope I get the phone on launch.
