Well, I just joined the iPhone7+ backorder train late last night after announcement of a 2nd recall for the Note 7. What a mess that has been. Happy to join all of you here.

Went with the 7+ matte black 256gb due to shorter wait times and I need a phone ASAP. Can anyone kindly explain the order process/milestones? I've read through much of this forum and it seems charging your card is indicative of pending shipment? I ordered online with EIP and this morning there is a pending charge for the down payment plus taxes/shipping, but surely that is too soon. Is there another charge you all are referring to?

Unfortunately, if you ordered a backordered phone I doubt that would be THE charge. :( Although, you could get really lucky.

Things have been happening with no rhyme or reason it seems. I haven't received any charges because I'm JOD, but I'm pretty sure taxes, shipping, and any down payment are made upfront simply to place your order and 'get in line'. It seems the higher capacities ship quicker than the lower ones--so that works in your favor.
Once you are "charged", that means a phone has been assigned to your order and will be (hopefully) shipping in the next day to 3 days, depending on UPS, the day of the week, holidays, weather, and the proper alignment of the planets (jk). Once a label is created you can then track your phone. Sometimes the T-Mobile status never changes until after the phone ships out, so make a UPS choice account and watch for any incoming shipments through that. Otherwise Just hang out, cross your fingers and see when other people with your phone and order date get charged. Sometimes it seems like there is no system with T-Mobile

Maybe someone else could chime in on what THE charge is. I'm sure it's different for different plans right? First month's payment? Entire cost of phone?

Well the 256gb models have shipping dates for next week so I'm sure that is the charge you are looking for, your phone will be in your hands soon lol. I too returned my Note 7 to jump onboard the iPhone train and my 128gb 7+ MB is still showing shipping dates of 11/1-11/30...

Maybe everyone using EIP just pays the down payment + tax/shipping up front? When I did the web order last night, it showed a "Due Today" amount which for the ip7+ is $250 + taxes/shipping. I'd like to think I got lucky, but I kind of doubt that. Order status still shows Backordered, and estimated to ship 10/18 - 10/25 (same as yesterday).

They do not charge until the phone is ready to ship. The MB 256 is the easiest to get at this point from them online. I had a 10/3 order and the phone arrived yesterday. The shipping date was supposed to be 10/18-11/1. I was told by T-Mo they have those in the warehouse at the moment when I inquired about a second one for my son.

I'm using EIP too and I didn't get any charges when I placed my order. The 256gb models aren't really seeing many shortages like the 32 and 128gb version. I actually called a local T-Mobile store yesterday and they had a 256gb matte black in stock.

I have been lurking this thread since I ordered my IPhone just to see how orders were being filled and how long it would actually take. From the looks of things I might as well get comfortable and join the wait.

I ordered my 7+ Rose gold 128gb on 9/23 signed the papers same day and est ship dates are 11/1 - 11/30 I did JOD. I might need the support so I won't drive myself crazy checking the status of my order every hour lol I have already purchased cases and screen protectors to keep my mind off of this madness

Ok, I'll take it. Maybe its been expedited due to "pain and suffering" from the Note 7, lol. Seriously, it must just be the supply on 256GB models like you say.

Forgive me if I was wrong...I don't know how something can be backordered and in stock at the same time though lol. I've been backordered for a month for my RG+. It's better to expect nothing and be pleasantly surprised though ;)

I'm really hoping we won't have to wait until the middle of November to get our phones but I have seen people on here and on reddit that ordered 9/9 - 9/12 still waiting on phones .

No worries, I appreciate your input. It's as they say, expect the worst, hope for the best.
