I'm surprised by the lack of external LED interest. That's been a complaint of Android converts for years.
I think people mostly just gave up on it as a possibility despite wanting it so it doesn't really come up as much anymore.

Get rid of the home button, finally. So clunky and un-Apple, if you think about it.
The thing that is fairly iconically asociated with the iPhone and thus Apple?

- Increased battery life
- Increased water resistance
- 3.5mm headphone jack

Losing the headphone jack is a deal-breaker for me. I have a decent collection of good headphones, and I'm not going to get a new set that will work only with my iOS device. My next phone will not be Apple if they continue to force this on users.

And I notice (other than joke posts) nobody is asking for a thinner phone, but Apple continues to push this to their detriment (deleting the headphone jack, no increase in battery life, etc.).

Don't think Apple has removed the headphone jack (at least not so far and nothing from them to indicate that it will actually happen), and the battery life has been better in the latest 6s line of phones and SE as well. That's not to say they haven't pushed the thinness part of it all, but that it hasn't necessrily had those effects.

It was a true admirable goal in the past, but has become an easy, lazy bragging point with no real innovation. The thinking clearly is "This is our thinnest and lightest phone ever without sacrificing battery life" will make us want to upgrade. Hopefully the demand for the SE will show the push back, and Apple will return to true innovation.

My prediction is that the 3.5mm jack will stay with this years iteration, as the changes seem even more incremental than usual.

However, with next year's iteration, the 3.5mm jack will go. It will be easier for people to "sacrifice" that legacy hardware with the incentive of other newer hardware & features.

That certainly sounds fairly rational and quite possible.

I really want to see fast charging (true fast charging, not the iPad adaptor "fast" charging" and wireless charging. They are both awesome, but I want fast charging the most. I don't expect OLED or smaller bezels to happen this year so I didn't choose those, but those are wanted as well. Basically I want a Galaxy S7 running iOS lol.

Basically for me, it's all about the battery this year. Faster charging, wireless charging and better battery life.

To be honest they need to just copy some of the things Samsung has... water resistance, smaller bezels, better screens, better battery etc.

Decreased bezels is a must and I think most would agree. Both iPhones 4.7" and 5.5" are just way too large, especially when you compare them to all the other phones on the market.

Oh also guys would like to see the same anti reflective screen that is on the 9.7 ipad pro.

That's an interesting idea that I hadn't considered.

That is not the solution.all time :apple: user

And THAT'S how companies get lazy and start cutting corners. Folks who only buy that company's products no matter how good/bad they are. Apple LOVES folks like you.

I could see it getting the adaptive/ambient display from the iPad Pro. I do think the regular 7 needs to bump up the resolution to 1080p. I have a 6 and the clarity when compared to other normal HD displays is noticeable, let alone the quad HD displays. I wouldn't mind smaller bezels either although wouldn't say a must have. I haven't used an amoled display before so can't say whether I'd prefer it or not.

A complete lack of available spec info other than drive size to make spec sheet loving fans' heads spin. They won’t know what to do if they have to rely solely on user experience. They’ll be in a dark empty place of confusion.
