So now we are being introspective and the success of a company is based on timing? First Apple is an innovator that other companies follow, and now according to your philosophy Apple is a master of timing irrespective of their product releases...

Please just stop. Your zen philosophy seems disingenuous to me.

I never claimed Apple to be a innovative company. Typically, as you also agreed, Apple does things better compared to other companies and that’s also tied with the timing of releasing something. Even with the first iPhone, all the tech they used were already there in the industry, they found the right things to put together.

Apple has always focussed more on design and usability than the underlying tech and that’s what they continue to do even now. Unfortunately, the Android manufacturers have realised that they don’t need to do much to sell their devices if they just follow what Apple is doing in terms of design.

When you say, you wanted new design, you couldn’t come up with anything that will change the way smartphones look today. A slab of glass is where the industry has settled and rightly so, because a screen can be used for various things rather than having physical hardware buttons.

Apple is trying to be innovative where it can make a difference by taking the ports away and pushing the industry forward towards a completely wireless future.

Honestly, it feels like only complaints at your end without substance.

I bought my 256GB unlocked 8+ in April knowing it may very be my last iPhone ever. I don't like the X and i can't see myself being interested in more phones that have a notch and lack the fingerprint unlock/home button.

I have my 8+ in an Apple leather case. This iPhone is probably one of my most favorite iPhones ever.

I wasn't happy with neither my X or the 8, which prompted me to downgrade to the SE. Perfect little phone for all my needs.

That’s a fairly drastic change having both the iPhone 8 and an iPhone X, then switching to the iPhone SE in a sense, that’s what I like about the iPhone SE, is that it is a cheaper, affordable option where some don’t need to have the largest form factor or the latest technology to appreciate a phone that meets all their needs and expectations.

I took a two months used 8 for a very tempting price, and couldn't be happier. Did not need a X and don't see myself upgrading for some years to come. Very happy with the performance so far.

The iPhone SE, 8, 8+, and X all have their place and fans. I like the fact that there are more options now for buyers, rather than having just one iPhone model with just different storage capacities and add on specs.

Excellent point and I agree. Look how Apple has expanded their iPhone line up over the last three years, they now have a price point and range for everyone, all the way from a 4 inch entry level iPhone SE, with models in between, and then the more higher priced iPhone X with the latest technology. Some Think apples iPhone lineup is too convoluted, which is actually complete opposite, they are broadening the selection for more consumers tonhave options and there is a reason why they sold approximately 272 million iPhones in 2017. Consumers like options, everyone has different price points, budgets and appreciation for form factor.

Iphone8 slippiest phone I've ever owned.
Nice mobile though, amazing screen quality.
No late 2018 or early 2019 upgrades required.

The slipperiness and scratch-prone screen are my two main beefs with the iPhone 8.

Anytime I put it down on anything but a perfectly level surface, I just watch it slooooowly start to slide off. Really caught me off guard when I first got it, I'm lucky it never landed on a hard surface.

The screen scratches: for a phone with the "toughest" ever glass, it sure is fragile! I've always kept my phones completely naked since the first iPhone, and never had an issue with scratches. Phone stays in my pocket, with nothing else. I had 2 light, but very noticeable, scratches within 2 weeks of buying the 8. ugh.

I had bought the 8 plus first. Because I couldn’t wait the 2 months for the x to come out, I wanted to get away from the s8 that bad...sometimes I miss the extra room on the screen, mainly when I see someone else with the plus. But overall I’m happy with the x. Glad to be rid of the home button, and the god ugly bezels. Notch doesn’t bother me. I don’t even notice it anymore.

I went from a 6sPlus to a 7plus and quite happy. Still have 2 6sPlus, I usually carry two phones and hotspot one of the 6sPlus. I like the 6sPlus for the ear jack which I use on flights listening to audible books.

Will probably get an 8 plus when the price drops and keep two 6sPlus, 7plus and have the 8 plus.

Personally I think the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are going to be big sellers this year too just like the 7 was when the X and 8 were released last year. There are some cracking deals already on the 8 and my wife managed to get a contract yesterday for £23 p/m!

Asking around my office I sense the iPhone 8 will be the popular upgrade too. None of my colleagues particularly follow any tech news and when I’ve said about the 6.1” LCD the response has been a reluctance to lose the home button. I think a lot of consumers fear change and familiarity is a big pull for some. It’s a good job Apple offers a choice and no longer forces just one design on us as tastes have matured rather than a demand for constant ground breaking features like we saw a few years ago.

I can upgrade from next month so am hoping to pick up an iPhone 8 on a cheap contract. My 6S is suffering dreadful battery drain and has let me down too many times in the last 3 weeks.

Have you considered having the battery replaced with your 6s due to the throttling issue? Its $29.00. It would at least add some longevity or even help with the resale being the battery would be new, depending of course if you decide to sell or trade in.

The battery was good until the last update so I know the sudden drain is software related. The battery health in settings is showing 83% so it’s above the recommended level for replacement. I’ve never had to replace a phone battery during the course of a contract and to be honest I’d feel a bit short changed having to do so now. If the battery cannot last two years then I’d be inclined to complain to the consumer ombudsman if Apple wouldn’t replace the battery for free. As I’m not keeping it long term i’ll let the next person worry about that lol.

This might sound silly, but I actually miss the smaller size of the iPhone SE! I currently have an iPhone 8 plus, and while I love it for everyday use, I do miss being able to use my phone in one hand. I also find it a bit to bulky to carry around.

If an iPhone SE 2 was released, I would strongly consider it.

I Think the iPhone SE is affordable enough where I see others who purchase it and use it as a back up phone if they feel like downsizing from a larger phone to a smaller phone, which I have done so in the past myself. There are times you just don’t _want_ to carry a larger phone around like the iPhone X or iPhone Plus model, where the SE just is that much less obtrusive and you don’t need to have all the latest technology, but you can certainly switch back to the larger phone with the SIM card.

hmm, see I prefer to have one phone instead of multiple phones. If an iPhone SE 2 was released this year, I would probably go on contract for it, and just sell my iPhone 8 plus.

I miss my old iPhone X. The 8+ feels like an older ergonomic design and form factor.

Happy with my 8. For those with scratches on the screen, try and clean your pockets or what ever touches your screen now an again. Sand and small grit or other objects with a Mohs factor over the threshold of the screen scratch resistance does the damage.

I am since I reset my network settings the other day.

I had a really irritating bug that randomly stopped my turning Wi-fi on or off, now-no complaints.
I'm glad I recently learned about this. My airpods were really having issues but when I did this they started working perfectly again.
[doublepost=1534031839][/doublepost]I made the decision to get the 8+ with the intention of getting the second gen X, so my time is almost here! That being said, I've loved my 8+ because it brought me a ton of new features while being basically the same plus sized phone I've been used to. Helps that I already owned airpods when I got it. Wireless charging alone on a large iphone has been awesome, but I've come to depend on the true tone display now.

This will be the first time in my life I keep a phone more than 12 months. 8+ will hold me over until 5g support is here.

Yes got to say the 8 plus has been a brilliant all rounder in fairness but I'm thinking of going for a new X in September!

I have to agree. I used a 4s with no case for nearly two years with almost no noticeable scratches. My 8 is covered in hairline marks that are only really visible under bright lights.
