Other than the specs needed to support the front-facing camera tech and Face ID, is there any difference in power between the two?

I am leaning towards getting the 8 because of the price difference, but if the 8 is already behind in specs, I would have to reconsider. Looking on Apple's website, it looks like the two phones internals are pretty much identical except for the Face ID tech inside. Does anyone know anything different, or is my observation correct?

Thanks!

8 = 2GB of RAM
8 Plus and X = 3GB of RAM

iPhone X will be better for low light wide-angle photos since it has a larger aperture than iPhone 8 +. Also, both rear lenses on iPhone X have optical image stabilization vs just one on iPhone 8 +. iPhone 8 only has one lens, so you miss out on a lot of the camera “power.”

Basically the X is only worth it over the 8+ if you value the better camera features and the better screen. If both of thosde things don't matter to you, go with the 8+. I wouldn't go for the 8 because of the 2GB ram.

Screen size, tech and resolution

X -> 5.8” OLED HDR 2436x1125 pixel resolution at 458 ppi

8 -> 4.7” LCD 1334x750 pixel resolution at 326 ppi

8 Plus -> 5.5” LCD 1920x1080 (1080p) pixel resolution at 401 ppi

And the size. The X is smaller.

Real correct answer is that X may use more power (or may not, we don’t know) but more than makes up for it with a bigger battery, so overall battery life on X is longer.

The X has more "Power", about 2 hours longer in battery life.

See attachment.

13+ hours of on screen video during a 17 hour work day earlier this month... 8 Plus battery life should be good enough for most people.

Don't forget the animojis. :rolleyes:

The 8 and X are the same: A11 Bionic chip, True-Tone display, Slow-sync flash, GPS/GLONASS/Galileo, and speakers are 25% louder with more bass.

The X has longer talk time (21 hrs vs 14 hrs for the 8) and battery life is 2 hour longer.

X has better display:
-Bigger screen
-OLED
-Super Retina HD, 458ppi (vs Retina HD, 326ppi)
-HDR capable (viewing HDR videos on Netflix and Amazon)

X has better camera:
-Portrait Mode and Lighting
-Dual lens (wide angle & telephoto)
-Optical zoom
-Faster low-light auto focus and noise reduction

Do we know the X has 3gigs of RAM for sure? I was kind of hoping for 4. My 7 Plus have been reloading safari pages all the damn time. It’s really annoying.

But at least the iPhone 8 Plus is the same . Talk time is the same for both phones. Look up a few post and you see The included info

Yes, the iPhone X has 3 GB of RAM. That was confirmed quite sometime ago. There is no 4 Gb available.

How many gigs 8 regular has?

What about the ram 8 and x has same 3GB?

Of course 2 hours longer than the regular 4.7 inch iPHone 8 but shorter than the 8 Plus.

Yeah, but OP makes no mention of the 8 Plus, only the 8. Don’t know about others, but I would never consider the 8+ or any plus model. I prefer the smaller form factor of the 8 and the X. I can’t use the Plus models comfortably with one hand.

I prefer the Plus models over the 4.7 inch. I can't stand smaller screen devices. My hands average size by the way.
