Gosh, I just paged through 5 or 6 pages searching if the iPhone 8 has any decent threads or reviews, and realized it is by far the least popular model with hardly any information. I'm sure there may have been a few threads, but the iPhone X dominates here...

Are those who own the 8, are you happy with it?

What do you want to know?

The 8/8Plus/X are roughly equal. On the inside they have the same CPU with only marginal performance differences between. The core features are the same. All models run the same apps without sacrificing anything. The 8 has 2 gb of ram vs. the 3 gb on the 8 Plus and X. The cameras are only incrementally with the X only slightly better than the 8 Plus. Though you won't be disappointed with the Quality of the 8's camera either.

Very happy with my 8+. Upgraded from a 6s+ and all is well--I'm content having a phone whose internals are nearly identical to the iPhone X, but is cheaper. Also, I prefer the 8's form factor, and of course, the superb battery life. Do I plan to upgrade to the X? Perhaps: I'm curious to see what the upcoming X+ (to be released in 2018) will be like. But frankly, I've endured iPhone-upgrade fever for years, and this year is the first time I truly didn't care so much. The 8 is a fine piece of hardware and I deliberately chose it over the X. So far so good!

Thanks for the info. I've seen both the 8 and the X. The X is HEAVY! I like it and probably would not get an X. Not ready to give up on touch id.

so the reviews don't matter. you have already decided. is the 8 better than the SE? yeah. how much? quite a bit. Should you get an 8? only you can answer that

Aside from Touch ID, Internally, the iPhone X and iPhone 8 are almost exactly the same, except with the 4.7 iPhone 8 having two GB of RAM.

The reason iPhone X is heavier, is because of the stainless steel that it encompasses, glass backing and built-in wireless charging capabilities. But even so, the iPhone 8 is actually heavier also due to the glass backing and built in wireless charging.

Love the 8. I am basically forced to carry around 2 devices so that's why I went for the 8. Would have bought the 8 Plus otherwise. But yeah, the 8 is amazing.

I don't have the 8, but I will offer my opinion.

Its a fine phone, you get much of the iPhone X's components for a lower price, so what's not to like.

Upgraded from a 7 Plus to the 8 Plus... Zero complaints... Awesome phone... Love Tru Tone, Wireless Charging and the screen just feels better to type / press on...

X IS heavy but you get use to it. I did at least. Still a tad bit annoying when running. But it's worth it for the better camera and bigger screen. Personally, love FaceID. I could never go back to a 4.7".

According to the Apple website, weights are:

8: 5 1/4 ounces
X: 6 1/8 ounces
8+: 7 1/8 ounces

I have an iPhone 8 and love it - it operates smoothly, looks good, feels super comfy in my hands and I like having a home button. Design wise it's my favourite iPhone to date, but I've also had the most issues with this one including dents & scratches out of the box, uneven screen, excess glue and noticeable gaps on the back.

My OH has an iPhone X and even though I prefer its OLED screen, I simply can't tolerate the notch.

That's because there is less to complain about with the iPhone 8.

Now you’re reaching lol. Nah, it’s because the 8 is practically the same old and tired design as 6&7 with minor differences so of course there will be more talks with the real new phone X. Let’s be realistic here.

iPhone 8 is an example of “stuck in the middle” situation they teach in business school.

It’s neither differentiated nor competitively priced. Many customers are probably choosing to buy iPhone 7 instead of iPhone 8.

It doesn’t make sense to dive into iPhone 8 and spend nearly top dollar for a dated design with no desirable features compared to iPhone 7.

People go low with the 7 or they go high with the X.

I think the power users primarily debate over the plus and the X. I think power users are more of a base on macrumors.

We just upgraded my wife from 6s Plus to the 8 Plus, mother in law, and stepdaughter from 6s’s to iPhone 8’s.

My wife had no interest in the X, she LOVES the size of the Plus and plans to use hers for 2 years.

My mother in law and stepdaughter had zero interest or care in anything bigger or different than the 8.

These are 3 users that have never heard of sites like macrumors, and would never visit. If they have any problems or complaints with their phones, they hand em to me to fix. I think that is the primary user for the 8. Give me the newest and cheapest. The ones that have the 8 here tend to more the exception than the rule. But I could be wrong.

Upgraded to 8+ from a 6 and am trilled with the change. Love the size of + (my first + size), love the battery life I am getting, love the camera and the overall performance.

Be realistic? Most threads on MacRumors are bitch sessions. So the more threads there are about something usually means more complaints. If you don't believe me do a quick count on whether threads the X are positive or negative. The 8 is better than the 6 and the 7 but people don't usually start threads about how much they like something.

I like the X and think it's the best phone in the world. Although, I'd still get an 8+ due to the narrow aspect ratio. But I'm realistic as to why there are so many more threads about the X. It's because there are so many more bitch sessions right now.

The iPhone 8 may be unpopular on Mac Rumors in terms of thread titles but it is rumoured to be doing as well as the 8 Plus and X in the market place. It’s just Apple fans who post here would rather talk about the X. Out in the real world I’ve seen more 8’s and am still yet to bump into a X owner.

Seems like a familiar solid upgrade.

Keyword: Familiar. Because that's what the consumer likes when they know what they're purchasing. If a consumer had an iPhone 6 or 6S, and can't afford the iPhone X, naturally their next choice would be the iPhone 8 in terms of an upgrade. Also, because they know exactly what they're purchasing due to familiarity.

I'm very happy with my 8 Plus, but I think that everyone knew right off the bat that it would be over shadowed by the X.
