I’m wondering if the iPhone 9 / SE 2 should still be released this March or do you think it will be delayed now?

UPDATE:
Today is iPhone 9 / SE 2 Launch day, do you think we will see a new iPhone today?

I am so excited, this phone is going to be perfect for many people who just want a really fast phone at an affordable price. I’m so excited!

It has to be delayed. No one will be buying them. Apple stores are closed. We are on tough times right now.

I know it’s no ones fault and circumstances dictate what is happening, obviously, but if the SE2 is released in July or maybe even later, most people will wait to see what other phones are released a couple of months later on...

And in turn, will hurt the phones launch. Especially as a fair amount of SE fans want the smaller device rumoured for September time over a budget price.

and that's assuming with all the current delays new phones will even be released in Sept. I personally wouldn't bet on it.

The rumour is that the iPhone 12 may not be released until next year (if at all) due to the Coronavirus.
It is highly unlikely to be released in September and if it is released will be late this year or more likely next year. On the other hand Apple may decide not to release it at all. Interesting times. This is what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket. Apple need to spread their manufacturing around like Nokia did.

I really wanted to buy the smaller version of this phone now that mine is failing. Mainly due to its price, to the fact that I live in a dodgy area and everything I acquire has that afterthought of having it stolen. But if it takes too long, or is too pricey despite being "budget", I'm definitely switching to either Xiaomi or Huawei.

Apple doesn’t need a specific release date for a phone at this point, that’s not even their focus right now. As health oriented as they are as a company, these phones will release when the time is necessary, which isn’t right now. And if Apple wants to release these phones if they are prepared post-production, they can do so through a silent release.

It wouldn't hurt to deliver products right now as the economy is likely to go into recession, you know.
Or just plain discount XR and pre models. It would give a tremendous boost to the company.

I don’t know about everyone else but I don’t see the point of yearly releases. iPhones are becoming so efficient that it would be fine to do 18 or 24 month releases. Look at the iPad Air 2 or the iPhone 6s. Both still perform very, very well. Battery may not be great but those devices are well beyond 2 years old.

2017 iPhones still run like new. Cameras are already excellent. Stunning in the new phones, I might add.

I planned on holding my 10.5 Pro for at least 3 years but the 11” has small bezels and tap to wake, which is something I’ve always wanted with an iPad, so I upgraded. I don’t use the camera on my iPad so I’m in no need of a 3 camera system (if that’s what’s happening).

Manufacturing isn’t even the issue. Sales is the issue. A lot of people aren’t working and have other responsibilities than worrying about something materialistic. Heck Apple stores aren’t even open.

wait wait wait........seems like products are starting to roll out today

Given the aggresive containment measures, it's pretty clear China has returned to normal in terms of supply chain.

The problem now is the demand side in the rest of the world. But I don't think launches will be delayed too much. Foxconn can manufacture as much or as little as needed.

Look at it from a business standpoint, consumers probably aren’t spending flocks of money right now on ‘new’ tech [Given They probably will enter some type of reserve mode], the smart thing to do from a standpoint like Apple, is discount certain products, to make them more attractive in terms of affordability. Right now, North America will probably face another recession given the pandemic, and given China is not entirely off the rebound yet, there’s zero reason for Apple to release Slew of new iPhones, especially when their marketing is at a standstill without presentation/keynotes.

If they have released an iPad keyboard for $350 I doubt that price discounts are really on their mind yet
