iPhone Air iPhone Air after 9 months in the wild

For everyone who's been wondering, this is what an iPhone Air looks like after about 9 months of use—worshipping its caseless, naked beauty and not worrying about dropping it a few times.

This is exactly why I think (i)phones should be made out of titanium or stainless steel. It has hit concrete and tiled floors multiple times from about waist height, and all it has to show for it are a few surface scratches. Depending on the angle and the light, you don't even notice them.
My business-issued iPhone 15, on the other hand, was dropped just once and ended up with a huge dent in the aluminum frame that catches your eye every time you look at it.

This iPhone Air has given me the best iPhone experience I've had so far—almost gave me iPhone X vibes. It's a little sad to see the poor thing go.

I have had my Space Black Air since launch and immediately put on a matte screen protector and a Pitaka Armid fiber carbon case on it. Looking at my Air after seeing your post, mine is as pristine as the day I took mine out of it’s Apple box. Absolutely perfect.

Same. Naked. Dropped on concrete flooring a few times and nothing, it did crack the screen protector though, I always have those because I'm picky about micro scratches.

Yeah loved mine and I decided the OP13 is a better phone but I really probably should have sold the OP13 due to them leaving the states lol.

So I might try to get another air or possibly even though it sucks to say this since it's more expensive than the air but like 100 bucks imao, the 16 pro max

My naked Air has had a couple drops, and is pretty pristine. Maybe one tiny blemish on a corner if you look for it under a bright light, but even then it's difficult to spot.

But the Air could afford to have titanium due to the phone's light weight (and may have actually required the titanium's rigidness due to the phone's thinness). With the titanium iPhone 15/16 Pros, people were complaining about its heaviness and overheating, I presume more than people had complained about previous iPhones' aluminum being not durable, since Apple decided to go back to aluminum. But perhaps after having a taste of titanium, the current aluminum Pro users will want to go back to titanium. We'll see. But considering the majority likely use cases, I suspect most will prefer having a lighter phone that is less prone to overheating.

Sold it. Shot a new one for below 900 down from 1449 EUR (512gb incl. VAT). I can’t stand cases and I can’t stand scratches. It just feels perfect again, will keep it till XX I guess.

Mine developed a crack right under the camera on the plateu..presumably from the camera bump hitting something. That crack now runs the entire width of the iPhone Air. Oh and this one had the Apple bumper on it too. Durable my ass.

The bumper did nothing except annoy me for the last year. And neither a screen protector nor lens protector would have done anything here. The crack appeared right under the camera housing vertically down the plateau, and then ran sideways across the whole back.

I think this just happens to be a weak spot, which could have happened from sitting on it, or the camera bumping something.

The Apple bumper is purely cosmetic and does not prevent the damage you got on your Air, why I avoided this for mine. I started with my Pitaka Aramid carbon case which has done a great job protecting my Air and recently switched to my Tekmomo Leather MagSafe case because I wanted to see how the leather felt in my hands. Today my Air is protected by my Tekmomo Leather case until I switch back to my Pitaka Aramid case but until then my Air will still look as pristine as the day I took it out of it’s original packaging. For my device I chose protection over looks.

Still . . . that really sucks that your back glass got cracked like that . . .

I got a silver/white Air because didn’t want to deal with chipped coatings. It looks quite literally brand-new other than some chips in the black paint on the camera surround.

My 16PM was the most durable phone I’ve owned until I got the Air. This one is so much better!

I've had my blue Air since launch in an Apple clear case. It looks brand new - not a mark on it.

I also have a naked air, I drop it all the time, somtimes multiple times a day. I got scuffs all over the titanium frame and like 2 hairline cracks in the bottom corner. Extremely light minor scuffs on the front glass that are only visible with the screen off at a certain angle. Very reliable and durable phone.

No I will not get a case, no I will not put on a screen protector. I view scuffs in the same light as a leather patina. Proof that I actually use my device as a tool and not obsess over it like its a piece of jewelry.

Only had my Air for just over 2 months, sometimes naked and sometimes in a thin Mous case which is removed to clean out any crap in there.

The only mark on it is from a grain of sand that got trapped in the case that caused some very light scratches on the titanium band, in this instance the case was actually detrimental and caused the mark by holding the sand Against it!
