Im playing around with air since yesterday and found it a bit laggish when scrolling home pages and here and there. Also, seems weirdly less brighter than my 15 pro (at same brightness percentage)
It’s noticeably less bright than my 15 pro max.

Less than ideal. Hoping that’s its first day issues.

No complaints here at almost 10 hours screen time and 94% battery usage. Was mostly at home but spent 1.5 hours out on 5G.

11. The camera has three stops or crops, 2X (52 mm), 1.4X (35 mm), and 1X (26 mm). Historically I haven't used 1X all that much, going with 2X or 3X if I needed the zoom. I have used 0.5X (ultrawide) plenty. I never owned a Pro Max phone. I guess I'll find out how much I miss the ultrawide.
In fact, there’s a fourth one: 28 mm. You have to enable it in settings.

In terms of the smaller phone being less readable? Yes the the larger air certainly scales up the text a bit and will be easier on the eyes.

I haven’t had an issue with the 6.3 inch pro though but as I’m approaching middle age I can appreciate the larger text
Good to know I’m just trying to figure out by how much like 15%?

I bought both an Air and Pro…did anyone else notice that out of the box the Air’s always on display is turned off vs the Pro which is set to on?
Yes it was off by default for me. I turned it back on.

Had an amazing first day with the Air yesterday. Did loads and the battery was great! I'm really falling in love with this iPhone in a way I haven't in annual upgrades. My favourite since iPhone X.

Pleased to see this is the longest of the first impression threads ! Although I think the air is easier to sell to the public than enthusiasts. I was in a London department store on Friday and loads of people were looking at the new iPhones and buying. The air was all “wow”, I need to get this …

Firstly all should remember that the battery takes a few cycles to get to normal length. There is a comment on this thread about someone who bought both the max pro and the air, and both seem to be draining overnight and during the day at the same rate. I am actually wondering whether there is a bug in 26.1 which will fix the battery drain overnight ..

This phone is super snappy to use. The liquid is 26 I am just getting used to on my iPhone and iPad. Seems overly arty. I think they used to avoid os animations as it uses battery, I guess they no longer care about this. A bit annoyed I can only now seem to look at all tabs in safari with two clicks, it used to be one click. If anyone knows how to do one click to all tabs that would be great.

Summarising other comments, it does seem the apple is more intent on throttling the air and dimming the screen then the other iPhones. I have noticed this but it not only does not effect my operation but I think it is a good thing. I would demand this if I had a normal brick iPhone.

As folk have said, the feeling of the air is by far the most premium. It is also the only one in titanium and lined with ceramic, and for a watch buyer, this just feels so premium. The black glossy I bought went straight into a thin transparent case, which look amazing.

The screen is bright and clear, and seems more contrast then my previous 16 plus. The screen doesn’t seem noticeably smaller and the loss of 25% of the weight actually feels more like 50%. Easy carrying in my jeans back pocket and I don’t need to make the belt a notch tighter to prevent my trousers falling down :D

The speaker phone is super clear and loud, and the only thing I use the speaker for. I do listen to YouTube videos and things on the iPhone but use my Sony buds. I have my Astell & kern for listening to music with wired headphones.

The iPhone air has made me genuinely excited about phones again. The other models just left me cold. I know excitement and desire is no way to buy an electronic device, but I guess that’s just me. Shiny shiny.

So pleased I bought the air ….

Can I ask how you’re finding using the Air with one hand after owning a pro? This is my only concern as my 15 pro feels the limit size wise for one handed use and worried the air will be too big. Thanks!
It might be a stretch for you. The height will be a reach although I constantly use the reachability gesture even on my 16P. More noticeable to me is the width. That always bothered me more on the Pro Max because it limited my reach. That being said I’ve been using the oh snap grip on my last 3 phones. It’s just much nicer to have a relaxed hand with minimal gripping for longer periods.

5.5 hours on 93% battery usage isn’t bad by any means, actually pretty good overall, but if you’ve been at home on WiFi and using it for extended periods then you’re going to see pretty good battery life. Venture out and about for most of a day and it tanks. At least that’s my experience.

Everyone’s usage is going to be different but here is my experience with the Air so far.

Today I was out for about 6 hours primarily on 5G UW. Usage was pretty light; 1.5 hour screen time mostly messaging, email and some browsing. 1.5 hour was in the car connected via wireless CarPlay navigating and streaming Spotify. The rest of the day I was on WiFi. I made it to 5 hours of screen time and 14 hours later I was at 7%. Charging in the car probably would have given me a decent buffer but I wanted to use it the way I use my 16P; wireless CarPlay and never taking it out of my pocket. For reference, I was on pace for 7 hours yesterday at home on WiFi.

Which transparent case is that?

I've had my Air for almost two full days now.
I'd venture to say that the Air is very close to my previous 16 Pro in terms of battery life.
I'm more than satisfied in that regard, and considering how thin the device is, it's quite impressive.

So all those rumors before the Air's release that the battery would be very very terrible are simply completely unfounded in actual use (see the various experiences of other Air owners online, as well as battery tests).

Actually, the only minor issue I'm still struggling with is the width of the Air (previous iPhone was the 6,3 inch 16 Pro)
I really think it's a tad too wide (using it without a case).

Over the past two days, I've made quite a few FaceTime calls, watched YouTube videos, and listened to some music.
All this time, deliberately through the iPhone's speaker; I'm still perfectly happy with the mono speaker.

Nothing about the camera?

I think I took about five photos in those two days of use. And that's already a lot for me.
I really don't take many photos in everyday life, only during weekend trips and vacations.
I'm not someone who spends all day snapping photos.
In that last case, a Pro would obviously have been better ;)

TL;DR :D

The only reason so far to trade it for another iPhone would be the Air's width, otherwise it's a great device for me.

You can change this back in the safari app settings under Tabs. The new style is compact; change it to bottom.

My concern with getting an Air now is that the novelty of the form factor might wear off after a month, at which point I regret losing the functionality from my Pro.

I think only time will tell and it’ll just depend on the individual. I’m pretty confident the speaker and battery are not an issue for me. The extra cameras will be missed occasionally but I can live with it for my usage. Going back and forth with my Air and 16p the past 2 days has made it clear that there is now a compromise for going back to a pro. It might not be a big deal for other people but it is for me. I went from pro maxes in the past to the pro last year and the improved portability (size, weight, pocket-ability, 1 hand use, etc…) was the right choice. Going to the Air this year felt like just as big of a step. I used to be a maximalist but my usage has been evolving towards a more minimalist style. The Air just happens to fit at the right time for me.

Yeah the width of the 16P was perfect for my hand in terms of 1 handed usage. The Air just goes over that threshold but it’s still usable. I wouldn’t have minded a 6.3”

For a long time, I was an early adopter of new iPhones. The last several years have left me feeling “meh” and, as a result, I haven’t upgraded since my iPhone 13 Pro (still a great phone). However, for the first time in 4 years, the new iPhone just grabbed my attention. The iPhone Air. 6.5 inches and THIN! I impulsively preordered it and got it today. I’m really, really impressed. It’s beautiful, light and comfortable. There are a couple of compromises like only one speaker and no macro lens. But, early impressions are that this phone is excellent and a joy to use. A feeling I hadn’t gotten from the iPhone since, maybe, the iPhone 5. It’s not a world beater but I have zero regrets. Even sprung for 512GB. Crazy. A HALF A TERABYTE of memory on a phone! It’s still finishing indexing and settling in so, I’ll get a feel for battery life in a week or so. Regardless, if you’re on the fence, now’s the time to upgrade it you’re been holding out for something more special than an incremental update.

I love that I am still able to get that “wow, what a cool new iPhone design!” feeling.

I got the sky blue as I feel like the black kind of hides how thin it looks!

What's going on with this photo? The camera plateau doesn't look right?

Yeah I agree that there’s a compromise either way. I also downsized from a Pro Max to Pro and never regretted it. The 16 Pro is the perfect height for me though, even fitting perfectly in my car door, so I may dislike the height of the Air but will see.

I think the camera will be adequate for 95% of my needs, and my wife still has a Pro which I could use if I needed the extra lenses.

Thanks for that, much appreciated.

I’ve considered an oh snap grip in the past so maybe the air is a good device for me to give one a go!

I agree on a bit too wide. And this is coming from a person with large palms and long fingers. I wish the phone was 2mm narrower

Are you using the grip on a naked phone or a case? I’ve had cases with them and loved them, but if I get the Air I plan to not use a case

I have had the air for 2 days and it’s mind blowing. Looks and feels amazing.

It has some key downsides. The speaker sucks (others here are sugar coating it) and the flashlight is also worse. Ultrawide is missing. Everything else seems fine.

Overall I know I wouldn’t have been able to get the old form factor and then jealously look at others with the air. I had to get it.
