I noticed my Air has color shift issues. When you tilt the phone down, towards you, the bottom of the screen turns green. The iPhone 17 pro doesn’t do that. I tested all of the Air screens at the Apple Store and they all had the same issue. I’m wondering if they used Samsung for the Pro/Max and LG/BoE for the Air and regular.

Yep! Noticed this almost immediately at the Apple Store today and it was extremely off putting.

I am very sensitive to this type of thing and my Air screen is perfectly uniform. In fact, this is the first Apple release in years where I have not had to buy 2-3 phones to get an acceptable screen.

I have just decided to return my iPhone 17 (regular) for this reason. I’ve never returned an Apple product in my life.

The colour shift with viewing angle is absolutely wild. If you combine two axes of tilt it starts looking like a traffic light. Seriously distracting on a phone that’s often viewed at weird angles.

The 17 Pro presumably has the same screen.

And now you’re telling me the Air with a new screen size and therefore different panel has this too? Dang.

Looked up the screen serial my pro and pro max are Samsung, and air is LG
How can I do this for my phones?

All OLED displays colour shift when tilting - the colour it shifts to depends on the screen manufacturer and the calibration. Also, people's sensitivity to seeing these things is a factor.

My 17 Pro shifts to blue, for example.

My 16 Pro does not do this, and neither does my Sony OLED TV, also my friends Pixel 8 does not do it, this is not something all OLED displays do, in fact OLED TV's are generally known for their wide angle viewing areas. This sounds more like sadly a screen lottery between different manufacturers and specs that were given the okay by Apple this year. Maybe this is due to the fact you can now turn off PWM on the 17's but that would need checking.

So I am aware that LG has had this history of having a green tint on your screen when you tilt the top towards you. I have the same issue with my base iPhone 17. While reading the posts here, I checked again. It seemed like I had very a bad case but it wasn't the case when I initially checked. I removed the screen protector and checked again - apparently my screen protector was really amplifying it.

My Air has a slight color shift to green when I tilt it, not visible in my viewing angle. With all the trouble I've had setting it up with Xfinity eSim, I certainly wouldn't return it for this. I have a nice white and even screen otherwise. Yesterday after reading here about color shift and finding that I had it, I did an internet search asking if the Air had color shift. Interestingly the response was yes and that Apple was aware of it and would fix it with an update. I can't find that anywhere now and doubt that it is true anyway.

You’re tilting your phone wrong. Lol

I haven’t noticed that but now that you say it..maybe slightly? However it’s nothing that is distracting plus I don’t ever look at my phone from that angle.

Mine does not have any colour tint issues when angled, the only thing I notice when looking at it normally is certain shades of grey are not the same between the top of the screen and the bottom. I can notice it in certain websites etc. very sensitive to an even screen over the years.

I have an LG panel in my Air with a green tint when tilted, and it doesn’t get as bright as my iPhone 16 Pro Max with a Samsung panel.

Are there any identifiers, serial numbers, or other information on the boxes that indicate the panel type of a device?

How many times can you take your phone back to play the lottery before they start to get pissed. I clearly have the green tint when I took the phone forward and it bothers me.
