Iphone and Ebay

There be on ebay straight away but they will be way overpriced.

Not worth the risk, incase the features don't all work.

Guess il have to wait till Q4 to get mine.

You don't get any benefit financially by upgrading, and he has to pay the bills on that phone for at least 30 days before he can cancel it, then pay the $175 termination fee, then get a new contract AGAIN for his own use. No point in upgrading to an iPhone, paying for data service, and using your 3 year old razr on that plan for 2 years...

Unless they're going for some insane amount of money on eBay, I don't see how this is worth it?

No offense but you are wrong. The upgrade fee with Cingular is $18 and it is a one time charge. He can buy the phone at the upgrade price (supposedly $599) and sell it for twice the amount. If he upgrades to the iPhone for $599 and sells it for $1200 he can take his $600 profit and go buy a phone outright or he can keep his current phone. There won't be any termination fee because he's not cancelling his contract in any way. He will have to do a rate plan change after switching from the iPhone to what ever phone he gets after. There is no need for a new contract but only a rate plan and features change.

They will be going for an insane amount on Ebay. Someone will be paying a lot of money for these things.

Someone has misinformed you about cellular phone contracts.
