Mmmmm... I have used both CDMA and the US GSM band (T-Mo), and I've honestly never noticed this. Nor with bluetooth.

I acutally noticed it with my TMO Blackberry... if it was near my TV or computer, I would hear a fuzzy "beep... dat, dat ,dat" (sorry only way to decribe it) every minute or so through the closest speakers. When I moved the phone away, it stopped. I never get that interference off my my CDMA Verizon phone... always wondered what made that happen.

This is electromagnetic interference (EMI) and it is one the reasons why you have to turn the cell phone off on airplanes. It is more common with 850 MHz band, primarily used by Verizon Wireless and Cingular in the US. Outside US, 900 MHz commonly causes this.

Ahhh, that might explain why I've never seen this. T-Mobile apparently owns no 850, so I would only see this if I were roaming onto AT&T's network...which I do sometimes, but probably rarely when I'm also watching television!

Weird thing is, the interference played through my speakers only came from my T-Mo. Verizon cuases no interference.

Thats because Verizon is CDMA not GSM. This did rarely happen to me and my roomate on Cingular, speakers would make noise right before incoming calls. However, we both recently bought new phones and it hasn't happened once.

Even if it did I could care less, as it only ever happened in very close proximity to speakers. That and Nokia and Sony Ericsson GSM phones are way cooler than any US CDMA phones, unless you can grab some crazy import from Korea.

Hang on, I'm just getting over the fact that in the US you get charged for receiving an SMS (instead of just sending them), and now you're telling me you get charged if someone calls you too?

What kind of weird system is that??? It makes no sense... Do you get charged long distance rates if someone calls you from overseas on a landline too? I assume (and hope) not, so why would anyone accept that on a mobile?

It's an amazing system. Here in the states, the cell industry gives huge contributions to the politicians who regulate them. The big shining light on the horizon are WiFi phones like the N95, running a SIP or Skype client. I suspect that will totally change things here.
