Clear your history and then shut it down and after a couple minutes then restart your iPhone. That seems to do the trick for me.

I'm surprised not more is made of this problem.

To me, its the single biggest pain in the ass with this phone as I listen to podcasts and music while surfing quite a bit.

I hope the 3G iPhone takes care of this.

I am very surprised as well D-Love.

And I agree that this is a HUGE pain in the ass. Safari crashed twice
while I was registering for this site. It is extremely unacceptable that
this happens so frequently. And I don't even listen to tunes while surfing.

Very irritated about this.

Hmm, Now running 2.0 I think it is more stable I have not had Safari crash n a while. Perhaps it depens a lot on your internet connection.

My safari has been crashing as well.. i'm running the jailbroken 2.2 firmware.. not sure if its jailbreak related, but i'm guessing just a general safari issue..

Quite annoying.

Saw a "Genius" to get this fixed. He told me that it happens when the cache is full. Told me to go into settings and clear out the cache. I haven't noticed much help by doing this. But that was Apple's Genius answer to the problem. I use the iPhone as it is a netbook. I surf the web all of the time when not at my desk. I sure wish when I answer a long question that it wouldn't delete my answer when it closes Safari. I lose everything I type into a form like here at MacRumors it has happened to me at least ten to fifteen times... after typing out several sentences via the tiny keypad. Really frustrating!
