*does the happy dance* Finally, I can get rid of this piece of crap turbosim! :D Maybe my EDGE will start working again, finally! :D

Oh thank goodness, I was worried people at work would point and laugh at me this week for not having 3.0 on my unlocked iPhone. :D

With any luck, next time I go back home to Montreal I can get a PAYG Rogers sim card. :D

Not being jailbroken then I didn't care and upgraded to 2.2.1 - this time my phone's staying unlocked!

It's possible the 3G S hardware prevents jailbreaking/unlocking... Won't know for sure until release, of course, but I THINK jailbreaking/unlocking may be blocked (at least for quite some time) on the 3G S. Still, lots of smart people out there, so who knows

Hmm, ominous news from the Dev Team's Twitter:
If you plan on ever buying an iPhone 3G (the one that's been out a year) and use a non-official carrier, best to do it very soon.
Looks like Apple did more than just pop out 8GB of flash memory from existing 3G's and rebox them...

Question

I just bought an iphone 3g for tmobile. However, i discovered that I have 2.2.1 with a baseband of 2.30.03 with 5H11. I cannot unlock because the bootloader is 5.9 or greater. Will this 3.0 unlock give me a chance to use this phone and features on Tmobile? The phone as been sitting in a box for a week.

I think he just means the new iPhones will have 3.0.1 or something of the like, which will lock the phone again if you update or buy one with that firmware on it.

Yes, you're in luck. No matter what firmware version you have right now, your 3G is unlockable. Just update to 3.0, jailbreak and unlock. :D
