Not caring about stocks is like saying I don't care about how I spend my retirement. But maybe you will just off yourself at age 50, I would. Not trying to be mean, just saying.

This is a great idea. I spend a lot of time rearranging my apps. sections for utilities, games, websites...

I just wish when it backup your phone it would remember where you left things. I restore my phone at least once a month to keep it sharp.

I think it will be out soon enough, apple steals whatever the hackers do. Hey if someone has a good idea that they can not copyright, TAKE IT

There is a app for jailbroken phones called categories. Lets you make folders and put things in them with custom icons. Comes with 200 icons and you can download more. You can even put folders inside other folders

Here are some examples of what i was able to do...

That is ugly.

But anyways...

Why doesn't Apple make it so however it's organized in iTunes, that's how it appears on your phone? If you don't want an app, just right click > hide. If you want to see hidden apps, right click somewhere other than on an icon and hit show hidden.

Would not be hard Apple...

I too agree that this is a great idea. Trying to organize my 5 pages of apps....well, I just can't do it. I end up chasing the d@mn things all over the place.

I hope apple takes your idea and runs with it.

This is what icon reordering in iTunes 9 will look like:

Good Idea! But there's more to it!

I've always thought of that! and it really IS a BIG need in iTunes 9!
it would obviously ease our experience in organizing apps on the iphone...

But, I have a few more ideas... let me know what u guyz think... ;)

1. Being able to see Apps in itunes organized by Developper (just as we see songs by artist). or even by category, (like by genre). and even by rating...

2. have filters/playlists for Apps... what i mean is that Apple creates a way so that the apps organize themselves as i want them to.

for example: 'Always have Apps organized by name' (so, apps starting w the letter A will start on page 2, then 3, etc....)

or 'always have apps organized by rating' (meaning that all 4+ apps will be at the beginning and all 17+ will be all the way to the 11th page....)

or 'organize apps by category' (and u organize a list in itunes saying 'i want all games put in first then all productivity then all social networking)........

and after u've set one of those filters, (lets take the alphabetical one) everytime u add an app (RemovEm for example) it'll squish itself between Remote and Sims3... so that u'll always have them organized alphabetically...

3. on the iphone itself, when u press an icon for a couple of seconds and they all start to 'vibrate'... it'de be nice to actually select a few icons (while they're dancing) to move them from one page to another...

for example, i press on the Stocks icon for 2 sec. and all the 1st page icons start to dance, ill press again on Stocks (its selected, and its starts glowing and dancing), and press on Contacts, Weather, Mail & Voice Memos (so all those 5 apps will start dacing and glowing) and then i'll drag any of those 5 to move it to another page, and the other 4 will follow... ... and throw them to the last page for example... ;)

4. and lastly, now that u can arrange icons on iphone and itunes, u'll have the option on the iphone's summary page to go with the 'itunes-arrangement' or the 'iphone-arrangement' or everytime u sync, it'll tell u 'the icons' reordering has been changed would u like to review before continuing?'

That's about it... If I were a good Photoshopper i would've done quite a few good mock-ups... because i havent heard any of these ideas before and they could help a LOT in the way we organize Apps!

Yes, this is a Great App. I used it when I JB my 1st iPhone. I would like to see Apple come out with this Folder App, or allow it in the Regular Non JB iPhones.

Apple finally included this as part of iTunes 9. How is it? I am stuck at work right now and won't be able to play with it until after 5.

Similar situation as HoneyToast. Looks like somebody updated their post above with screenshots. Glad to see Apple add this!
------------EDIT------------------------------
Sorry... posted incorrect info.

In an attempt to make up for my poor post, here's a screenshot directly from iTunes 9. Looks to be fairly intuitive and functional. Again... glad to see Apple (finally) incorporate this!

How do you get to that screen in 9.0 (or is 3.1 required?).

I think the 3.1 update may be required. That screen is visible once the Application tab is selected under the iPod/iPhone menu. I downloaded iTunes 9 and the 3.1 update essentially at the same time... so I can't say for sure.

Yep, I think 3.1 is required to organize your iPhone screens in iTunes. I just downloaded 9.0 but my iPhone's still on 3.0.1, and there's only blank space to the right of the app list.
