Has anyone seen this before?

I think this is the ultimate irony myself.

Indeed, it's very ironic that any other smartphone owner can use a custom theme... without the maker preventing it... yet those who buy the phone with the personable "i" in the name, cannot.

Nice one!

I think it's just a skin or a theme. How's it ironic? RIM failed in the Storm while Apple succeeded?

Ironic because people see the Storm as an iPhone-killer, yet Storm users are putting the iPhone theme on their phone to mask the piece of crap they have and remind them of the phone they actually want.

Nice with the iPhone low blow, but I'm still laughing that a Storm owner would put an iPhone theme on their "Smart"phone... *CLICK* away Storm users...

Sorry, but...

There are thousands of themes available for each model of any other smartphone. So if an iPhone happens to be one of those themes, it's statistically meaningless. After all, there are Vista themes as well. Doesn't mean a person actually wants Vista. ;)

Likewise, many WM phone owners used an iPhone theme for a while, until they realized how rigid and simplistic it is... and have long since moved on to better themes.

For that matter, iPhone owners jailbreak partly just to get away from the stock homepage.

Cheers!

Last time I checked though, no jailbreak iPhone owner switched their home screen to that of a storm theme or WM theme. And that in itself shows that they don't want another phone necessarily.

I know of at least one, so your statement that there's "no jailbreak iPhone owner," isn't entirely accurate. The storm theme for the iPhone is actually quite nice.

I switched to the Storm and Bold theme to get away from the dull generic Apple theme. According to Cydia, ~200k have downloaded either the Storm or Bold theme.

You, sir, are an idiot.

doesn't mean anyone with 7 1/2 brain cells would want it on their undeniably better phone.
maybe for a Klondike bar..?

yeah... there are many programs like this for windows mobile too.

a more popular one: iFonz

basically it's a GUI for shortcuts - with iPhone icons + pages

there has been

a Windows vista theme that iphone users have applied to their jailbroken iPhones. :apple:

I like how the weather icons says "Wheater. :D

well you actually provide the names to the application shortcuts yourself. my brother used this on his blackberry - and i tried it on my Samsung Epix... ultimately very lame

Very few Americans understand irony, you are cleary one of them. I don't need to post links, you can look up definitions yourself and make up your own mind...

iPhone is seen as THE phone of its type to beat. RIM come along and produce the Storm in an attempt to 1up Apple, but they failed. It is therefore IRONIC that somebody would produce a theme for the Storm so that it can at least appear to look like an iPhone in terms of the interface.

Wha??

I'm with you on this one. It is very ironic that someone would by a non iphone and want it to "act" or look like one. On the other hand this doesn't necessarily mean that they are trying to get their phone to look like the phone they really wanted. I think they make this change because even though they didn't want the iphone they are still under the influence of media and hype surrounding it and still want to fit in with the cult of mac without having to buy something they feel they don't want. I have an iphone and laugh at blackberry owners, but can see it from that point of view.

Now... with that said I do feel that you should strike the comment about "Americans not knowing the meaning of ironic". I feel that there are many people around the world who don't fully understand the meaning and giving such a general and narrow minded statement such as this only proves how uneducated you are about certain things. You may know the meaning of ironic but that simple statement negates anything smart you have posted or will post in the future.

Feel free to comment back with more non factual and generalized comments about me, but keep in mind that I'm done with this post and, like a true American, could care less what you think of me.

Cheers! :D

I had a similar mod on my last phone: samsung sch i-760.....it was pretty bad/useless. All of those apps on that 2.5 or 2.8 inch screen. Also, I couldn't get some of the apps to actually open what it said, so when I clicked sms, I would open settings.

It was a nice change from the dated WM home screen. I definitely didn't do it in hopes of people seeing my thick samsung and think it was an iphone or anything. Just a nice change-up.

I might even look into the storm theme in cydia.

Very few Americans understand irony...

Don't generalize people this way. For someone who took the time to explain the proper definition of irony/ironic, you come at him with an outlandish opening line like that. It decreases your credibility.

Don't you mean you couldn't care less?

The BBC ran an article on American irony, concluding that you guys do get it, but in certain contexts.

However, in closing, David Freedman, the American comedy writer (now living in the UK) let you all down, in giving an example of irony that isn't actually ironic...

But despite it all, says Freedman, "there's no doubt the Americans have a sense of irony. If we didn't we'd have thrown out Rhode Island years ago. That's not a state. You can walk across it in about five steps."

Hey, if it's any consolation, as one of the commentators to that piece said - Americans may not get irony, but the British don't understand it :D

I don't see the problem with themes, for the reasons posted above. A lot of us theme our iphones to get away from the stock look - isn't that just as bad?

I think it's ironic how i just did that last night... or is that a coincidence?

*cough*

I like the way Storm OS looks but would never have one for myself. I've also used a Bold theme as have many others.

I think having either a Blackberry with an iphone theme or an iphone with a blackberry theme makes an interesting statement about the insane brand loyalty that seems to be pervasive with technology these days.

I thought...

I thought this was an Apple Fanboy Forum? Shouldn't everyone be saying that any Storm user with an iPhone skin is lame and they are just mad because they weren't "cool enough" for an Apple product? Has this forum been infiltrated by RIM fanboys? :D
