One of the major factors I expect Apple to be considering, is how cooperative the carriers are in meeting their demands, particularly in having appropriate rates for the iphone.
My expectation is that they will be expecting any carriers to create new rates in the UK, for example at the moment it is difficult to find a cheap data transfer rate, whereas in America I understand that many providers have plans with cheap data. As the iPhone is being sold largely on the internet functions, it will be an important draw to potential customers if they aren't getting bumped off on the rates as well as the original price of the phone.

All rumors surrounding the iPhone have been so vast, vague and inprecise that I disregard any rumors unless well founded. Apple realy is pulling out all the stops to keep everything about the iPhone under wraps so that they can get the most hype around it exactly when they want! Don't blame them, if this flops then it could put a major downer on Apples current very good run.

Well if I were Steve Jobs (and for all you know, maybe I am.. ;) ), and I'd decided Vodafone were the best choice of carrier, I'd certainly be leaking a story about going with T-Mobile, to weaken Vodafone's negotiating position.

I was at a wedding last night, one of the guests was an account manager for Orange. He explained that Orange were courting Apple but as all their PDA phones are running Windows Mobile, and Orange push them hard, Apple were unconvinced that Orange would push both 'brands' of phone OS equally.

It won't be Orange who wins the contract race, but I would prefer Vodafone over T-Mobile....
