So i just got back from a aurthorized H20 dealer here in Richmond and i was told the reason why I am having this problem is because H20 wants you to setup automatic renew instead of just paying for the pin monthly. Which defeats the purpose... So you will experience signal loss in the last remaining days before you plan is up for renewal. Also they say you might be experience a slow down because h20 is getting popular. Everyone is selling them on craigslist to 711. Im getting kinda frustrated about this... I might just go back to andriods and rock a pay as you go tmo with 4g/3g speeds...

Well that sucks a cap after 7000. I know i don't do over 400 so no issue there but a data cap now i do have issues with that. Also the auto renewal thing is not new boost tried it once and customers fought back. So maybe we need to tell H2O if you do that then say bye bye to your business.

Hey guys

I have a question. Once i get my iphone should i jailbreak it or leave it as it is. since we all know that H2O use AT&T towers. what are the Pros & cons.

I just wanted to add in, one of the guys in our shop just switched over to H2O on his 4s running 5.0.1. Everything activated fine including iMessage and MMS. Now, I can't say whether MMS is working to other carriers/phones but so far he can send MMS using iMessage to other iOS 5 users. He's also been running some speedtests throughout the day and getting solid 4-5 Mbps results.

So then we don't need to jailbreak it to get the settings right?

That's what it's looking like so far. Keep in mind though, he hasn't tested MMS with a non-iPhone user yet. It could be allowing him to send MMS because of iMessage but I'm not 100% sure.

As far as everything else goes though, no jailbreak was required. He was able to get data by downloading the package recommended on H2O's site. 3G, iMessage and Facetime all activated without a hitch and more importantly, without a jailbreak.

Hey Ylert thanks for the replay. Now lets hope we get an answer to that part of the puzzle. I did saw a video from one of the H2O resellers. He jailbroke his phone here's the video: http://youtu.be/sZCNnBQy0uA

So if I'm switching to H20, should I port my number first before canceling service? I'm assuming that would be smartest, just not sure.

Data Usage on H2O wireless and ATT

Hi,

Am seriously thinking of switching to H2O Wirless as, currently, I'm with Tracfone who only sell bricks as cell phones :(. Two things though, realistically, how much data would I use if I access the internet for, say, one hour a month on the phone (with at least a 3G connection). And, secondly, I know that H2O uses the AT&T signal. I've been told, and I can believe it that, despite that, I can't go into an AT&T store and get a phone locked to their network and use it solely with H2O (who use their signal). Can anyone confirm that that's true? I can't believe it's not true as H2O wireless are a fraction of the price of AT&T but ... In my ideal world (unlikely though it may be! :) ) I could get a dream phone on a 2 year contract with AT&T without having to pay their high tariffs!

Any guidance would be appreciated!

Many thanks.

So you're able to activate an iPhone with an H20 Sim Card? Brilliant.

However, will I still be able to activate it even if I just buy that sim card and it doesn't have a plan on it?

you can do it via their website, you enter your sim card number they shoot you a text msg with a link that will download on your phone and there u go , I've had them for a few months now but I'm dropping too many calls definitely switching to either redpocket or straight talk

BEWARE of fine print (if there IS any)

Folks,

I just spent over an hour on internet chat with this person from another country (you can tell even through IM). I found out some critical pieces of information that I believe you should know. I inquired, and inquired – like pulling teeth for her to explain the features of the plan differences. Here’s what I found out… I’m telling you this because I want others to know before you get suckered into H2O and what they DON’T tell you from their website or from regular print in their contract.

 If you have an existing phone. Let’s say a 3G Iphone. Your phone only runs on 3G speed regardless of the fact H2O provides service of 4G. You’re not going to get more than what your new/used phone has. If it’s a 3G phone, you get slower internet speed and texting than with a 4G.
 Now, if you happen to have a 4G phone. Great! H2O provides matching service for that 4G speed rate. You will get the rate of the 4G.
 I don’t know what kind of phones (3 or 4G) H2O promotes to provide you, but beware if they are 3G!!!! You’ll be wasting your money. Get a 4G from somewhere else.

The $40 and $50 plans give you only a number of mb’s of usage. “But what happens after that” I asked? What if you run out using that usage in your 30 days? You have to buy this stupid additional card for like $10? Yep. That IS if you want to have internet access. Otherwise, you’ll loose your internet access once your mb’s are up in 30 days (but your phone calls and texting will still work). So with that $50 plan, you initially get 500 mb for 30 days. Guess how much that stupid $10 extra card gets you? 67 mb of usage on internet usage through your phone. That’s NOTHING! May give you 4 extra days of using the internet. Might as well just pay for another $50 to get a full 30 days or do without internet until your 30 days are up (heck, least you’ll have texting and phone calling)!

So you may be thinking; “well, for that $10 extra month, I could get the 2gb plan and have internet usage a lot longer”. And heck, For those techy’s out there that recall the basics… there’s 1024mb per 1gb. And so for 2gb, you get 2048mb (4 times the usage in the $60 plan vs. the $50 plan).

BEWARE: The 2gb plan only gives you 500mb for 4G service. Yes! THAT’s right. They are disguising that you get 2gb at 4G for that much, but after 500mb use on the 2gb plan, it goes from 4G speed down to 3G speed on your 4G phone.

And when your mb or gb run out before 30 days? You have not internet usage.
If your usage is now passed 30 days? You’re out of luck – no phone usage at ALL! And, you may have to pay a reactivation fee. Not sure on that though.

So the choice is up to you. But BEWARE.

Chat for H2O

By the way folks,

Don't even bother trying to chat online with these people - they won't answer you. I waited now from 4:51 pm to 5:21 pm (30 min) to chat with someone and NO ONE has answered their 'ping'. I decided to close the session since noone entered the chat room to help me. But before I did, I wanted to make a complaint. So I searched and searched for a link and the only thing on that chat resembling such a thing was called "survey". I clicked on it to hopefully tell them I'm soooo disappointed having to wait here for someone to answer me for 30 minutes. And this was their immediate 'autopopulated' response (verbatum verbiage)...

"Your survey already have been processed, Thank you!"

First) I never even took a survey
Second) I never had the opportunity to type a response to receive even this comment from them
Third) You gotta LOVE the verbiage. This is either a typo, ignorance of the English language, someone from another country doesn't know how to speak English, or all of the above
Fifth) Shows how unconcerned they are about customers
Sixth) In short, I couldn't leave any comment and could only close the pop-up "survey" box with this response from them.

iPhone 4 on h20 not worth it

I have an iPhone 4 using h20. My grandkids don't have iPhones and I can't send them pictures. I can't send any non-iPhone user pics. I called h20 and they said I would have to jailbreak my iphone to send pics to non-iPhone users. Really??????? That's lame. Guess I'll be getting rid of h20.

It is possible to send MMS (picture messages) on the iPhone using H2O wireless. One alternative that I found to be useful is by downloading an app called "textfree". It's a free app that basically gives you a free number to use to txt or mms people. I only use it to send picture messages though. It's also a good app to use if you don't pay your cell phone bill and you're stuck with no service and you only have wifi. Just a suggestion for all those frustrated h2o customers out there like myself who want to send MMS and don't know or don't have the time or money to jailbreak their iPhone.
