Depends on what you need. Basic functions are similar for both android and iOS. Both will allow you to call,text, facebook, google, browse, youtube, games, calendar, reminders, alarms etc etc etc.

I will probably have to choose an android phone soon though because i am building a wireless interfacing project and i find it far cheaper and easier to implement an android solution for the prototype. No need for a $1000 computer or even $99/year to Apple just to install and run my own app on it.

I recommend you go to an electronics store and use an iPhone and Android phone in succession to see which you prefer. I find myself consistently frustrated with the choppy and unpolished feel of Android when I use friend's phones.
