I have two questions, Iphone 3G or BLACKBERRY BOLD, whats better and why??? And second does anyone know or have an idea of when the new 3.0 Software will be out, and I know it is in the summer, I am just looking to narrow down when it will be like June, Mid July, WHEN????? Someone Please help me I'm torn. I changed to Bold mainly because of MMS and cut and paste without having to Jailbreak my iphone, but now I miss the touchscreen and the browser so I am torn on which way to go. Also I like the fact that with the new software I'll be able to do all those things. One last thing right now with my blackberry I am able to tether via bluetooth with my powerbook, I don't know if I will be able to do that with the iphone 3.0 software. PLEASE HELP!!!!

iPhone

I have both phones and in June/July when or IF a newer iPhone is released i will still be using the iPhone. The Bold is a great phone but the iPhone has so much more to offer.
It really comes down to what your going to use the phone for?
What are your main uses for the phone?

I owned both at one time, ended up selling the bold. I just missed the iPhone's UI, browser, better mulitmedia experience and larger screen. I do miss the bold's better email capabilities, physical keyboard and little blinking alert light ;)

I have both right now but the Bold is currently on ebay right now. I came back to the iPhone (3G this time) because I missed the iPhone browser and it's superior multimedia capabilities. Considering that Apple designed the phone portion of the iPhone as little more than a regular app, it wasn't an easy decision butI don't get that many calls anyway.

I'll miss the Bold's ability to multitask out of the box and the near instantaneous email (with the sweet blinking LED). Blackberries are true communicator devices with everything else coming 2nd. The Bold does multimedia slightly better than all the other phones RIM has out now.

Basically I'd say it comes down to:
Bold = superior business phone.
iPhone = superior multimedia device.

As much as I liked my Bold, I ended up going back to the iPhone because my Bold kept running out of memory and I kept having to pull out the battery. The browser on the Bold is terrible too, but it's definitely way better for messaging. I still haven't seen any phone that compares to the iPhone's slick and general fast interface, and now with 3.0 coming out most of my issues with the iPhone are being addressed.

The Bold kills the iPhone as a phone. The iPhone is just an iPod Touch with a touch screen phone built in.

Bold + iPod Touch > iPhone

I just got an iPod Touch today and noticed that all of the apps run smoother than they did on my iPhone, which sometimes froze.

Why in the world would you tether via BLUETOOTH?!? It's so slow...

I get around 1mbps down 300kbps up tethering via bluetooth on the bold.

And the battery drain is way better than pdanet.

Communication- bold hands down
Multimedia- iphone hands down

Both can do the other decently.

So choose accordingly. I chose the Bold.

I actually played with a Bold the other day, and it was pretty amazing. Best BlackBerry I have ever seen, and I thought about buying one. I couldn't give up my beloved iPhone though. The Bold is a great competitor though.

Blackberry is better as a phone for casual or business use.
iPhone is better for multimedia/entertainment.

Do you guys know if you can switch SIM cards between the Blackberry Bold and the iPhone?? It'd be nice to have the capability to switch back and forth between the 2 phones.

Sorry but I thought the iPhone was cool but also a waste of money. I bought so many apps and only used them once. I found myself to use my laptop way more than I used the Safari browser on my iPhone.

Pretty much. If you plan to surf the net in any large capacity I'd recommend the iPhone, because Mobile Safari puts the BB WAP browser to shame.

Good point. I haven't had any experience with Opera mini, but I've heard good things.

it's pretty good. safari is still better although opera mini is probably faster. touch screen navigation works pretty well though.

i've tried bold for a week.. os isn't so good.. and a lot of memory leak
i don't know if your bold in US have wifi, but here in Italy the bold is esclusive of Vodafone and.. doesn't have wifi.. so iPhone is better for connectivity :)

I know I’m not the first to point this out, but it really boils down to what you need/use your phone for, also you have to count in the place you live in (the carrier of the iPhone and the bold on your place).

The iPhone is superior when it comes to ease of use, navigation, browsing, and multimedia.

The Bold is better for business use and the keyboard and display are amazing.

But that's not saying the Bold is a horrible multimedia phone and the iPhone isn't a horrible business phone with a poor display.

Yes you can switch back and forth. I have the iPhone and the Bold.
