I think that is a personal choice, What ever one serves your needs best is the one you should get.

I personally use the iPhone 3G because it works very well for what I use it for.

So, think about what you need your mobile device to do and then look at both the iPhone 3G and BlackBerry Bold's statistics and see which one is better for you. :)

Good point. I haven't had any experience with Opera mini, but I've heard good things.

It's nice, with one small exception: it passes all your traffic (including HTTPS traffic) through a third party's servers.

Oops.

To the OP: there is absolutely no way for us to come up with an objective answer to that...

I have both also, bold for work and iphone for personal. Iphone does serve its purpose as a multimedia device but the current build quality isn't very good. I'm on my 4th Iphone 3G.

The bold is built nice, feels good in the hand and now has Pandora support. Also, has A2DP (Stereo BT) which should be released in the next IPhone 3.0.

Anyhow, as other posters have said, depends on what you really want out of the device. If you want Apps, Games, and Multimedia then the Iphone is for you. If you want good build quality, a good phone, and some minor multimedia support then the Bold is for you.

That is not true. You can choose to use either the browser or the blackberry browser (or a third party one such as Opera). Only when using the BB browser the packets are sent and received through RIM.

You really can't go wrong with the iPhone.
..yeah, just my two cents. I have both. Well, not the Bold.. I have the Curve 8900, going on it's browser just makes me feel sick.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5H11 Safari/525.20)

iPhone....

I was referring to a third party browser, specifically Opera Mini. I was unaware that RIM's browser proxied connections, but if that's the case then it's just as bad as Opera Mini in that regard.

I currently have a Bold and it's a great device for email/messaging. When it comes to Multimedia/Maps/Web/Apps (i.e. Skype etc) there is no doubt in my mind that the iPhone is a better device.

My primary concern was the ability to type out messages and for that the Bold wins.... for now. I believe when OS 3.0 goes live, the pervasiveness of the widescreen keyboard will allay some of the hesitation I had before. When OS 3.0 is out I will be switching to the iPhone in whatever the latest iteration is.

The Bold has everything the Iphone does and more except a really great browser except the UI is def not as savy.

A bold + ipod touch is the best if you dont mind two devices.

Bold you carry around everywhere for sms, calls, and emails. Touch you leave in the car for music.

Having both of them I don't really consider one better than the other. They have strong points in different areas. The Bold is a very good phone. The iPhone is a very fun media device.

yea, i think it's ridiculous that RIM has to be the middle man in the network. i used to work at a help desk at my company until last year and there were so many outages at RIM, it's kinda silly.

it's pretty good. safari is still better although opera mini is probably faster. touch screen navigation works pretty well though.

In my experience, Opera is definitely faster. I have my iPod on Wi-Fi and Safari is slower than Opera on my 1xRTT Nokia.

That's true, but I was referring to the fact that Opera Mini does the same thing.

That said, RIM does have a fair number of outages, esp. given that it's supposed to be an enterprise service...

Sounds like you would be better off with a Razr, or spend your money on a class to help you learn how to research.
Grow up eh? Do you get off on putting others down like that? Awwww...mommy, he can't weesearch anyfing mom, tell him...

At the end of the day, they all make and receive calls, send messages and go online. They all play media, and all have various strengths and weaknesses. Look at the Palm Pre as an alternative - getting great previews.
