That´s true and Finder is reporting a size for both library but in fact it´s only the biggest who is taking up space.

And after I deleted that migrated library I reclaimed the space from my SSD? Seems an awful lot like it was using up the space. I wonder if the migration process hadn't gone according to plan.

For me it didnt show any different in space on my hdd.

That's what I've done, too. I'd really like to use some of the Apple Photos features, but with even the low-res thumbnails taking up a lot of space on my Corp-issued 16GB iPhone 6, I can't.
It is ridiculous that we have to do that inorder to sync photos up to the cloud library. I suppose they do have the optimize feature of the thumbnails but a simple option of "do not show photos older than x" will allow us to control how much of our library is synced to the phone or device and then pull from iCloud on demand when we want to look at photos.

It's not rocket science, it's exactly how outlook works when using 365 exchange email.
