You got the Pro because

I selected the first option as one of my choices, but I think the "need" part should be replaced with either want or need/want. As I have the pro model because I just want the camera upgrade, I don't need it as I do not make money from my iPhone photos or anything like that.
Part of the reason is I want the better phone but the 2x telephoto lens does help. I think if the regular iPhone had the 2x lens instead of the wide angle I might get it.

From the rumors I've heard, Apple is going to further separate the Pro iPhone from the regular iPhone in price and features. I think that was the problem with the Plus size iPhone selling so poorly. The Pro wasn't much more expensive. I think what Apple is going to do is upgrade the Pro with titanium and some other crazy features thus making it more expensive. This way for the people that really need or want a Pro iPhone, they have the choice but if they just need a regular iPhone that's also available

I agree, I ended up needing to use the 2x yesterday quite a bit, but I don't really use the 3x since it crops in and doesn't look as good. I do use the wide angle quite a bit and 1x the most though.

I have seen similar rumors, especially with maybe getting a periscope lens that hopefully can do maybe 20x with maybe 10x of that (or more) being optical would be nice. Certainly agree with the difference being pushed greater for either the standard model dropping in price or the pro lineup going up in price, because it is certainly not looking good for these 14s especially since I think the majority do some sort of loan either an agreement with the carrier, upgrade programs or whatever so an extra $100 from the standard max to the pro and $200 more from standard max to pro max spaced out over 1-2 years is hardly a difference in monthly payment or even just buying it outright when spending that much money anyway.

I said 2x but I forgot that with the newer iPhone Pro models, it's 3x... I hate to tell you but the 2x setting is not a lens. You could have done the 2x on a regular iPhone because it's just the regular 1x lens with digital zoom. I don't know if the regular iPhone has a 2x button but I don't see why they wouldn't put it on there.

oh! sorry good catch you are correct and I knew that dangit lol, with the crop into the 48mp it is pretty handy since it retains the 12mp and still is very usable.

OK kind of wish they would've kept the 2x zoom because the 3x seems a bit much but I understand why they did. When you have competition advertising 300x zoom or whatever 🤣

Looks like I learned something new 👍🏼 was under the impression 2X was optical and 3X zoom lol
Well I looked it up.

On the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max it was 2x, iPhone 12 Pro it went to 2x but on the 12 Pro Max it was 2.5x. With the 13 Pro and Pro Max it was 3x. I didn't know about the 2.5x on the 12 Pro Max. Was the button on the 12 PM 2.5x instead of 2x? I don't remember and I don't have that phone anymore.

I enjoy more the stainless steel look and heftier feel of Pro models, so I go with that. I care less for any feature that Pro models offer over the regular iPhone. I also only use stainless steel Apple Watches for the same exact reasons.

Do you have the Pro or Pro Max iPhone?

I have the 14 Pro Max and I picked up my brother's iPhone 13 and I was amazed at how light it felt. The specs say 8.47 ounces (240 grams) vs 6.14 ounces (174 grams) but my hand was saying something different. I wanted to trade phones right there but I'm not sure I would be okay with the reduced battery life. What's crazy is how much heavier iPhones have become due to the newer tech. The iPhone 7 Plus is about the same size as the 14 Pro Max but weighs 6.63 ounces (188 grams). Of course with about half the battery life.

I'm not sure how much of what I was noticing with my brother's phone was because of the aluminum vs stainless steel or maybe just the smaller size. I would like to compare the regular size Pro with the regular iPhone when it comes to how heavy they feel. I think I'll be heading to the Apple Store a month or so out from my next upgrade just to compare how the phones feel and maybe consider a different model.

The camera and the fast refresh display. Everything else is just a bonus. I came from a XR so it was a massive upgrade.

These might be the worst poll options ever...it def looks like it was created to have Pro users answer poorly lol.

"Wanted to waste money"

"Just because I fell for marketing"

"I have no idea why but here I am with a Pro Model"

The wording and reasonings could be much better...

I am not an owner of an iPhone Pro, yet, since I am still happy with iPhone 7 Plus and Galaxy S10+ but this is what I have observed...

I have iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 Plus both on iOS 15.6 RC [I know that iOS 15.7.3 and previous updates have been released but I decided to stay on that version] and out of curiosity, after remembering that iOS 11 introduced High Efficiency format, decided to check how the camera settings of the two compare and found out that the setting is only available on iPhone 7 Plus and is nowhere to be seen on the iPhone 6s... I don't have an iPhone 6s Plus but I think it would be the same...

What I'm trying to say is, Apple really wants you to get the latest and greatest for they push all the new features on the Pro [or whatever the flagship iPhone will be called in the future] so I think that is the thinking of the people who follow Apple news and are also tech-savvy... Now as to whether to get the regular sized Pro or the bigger Pro Max depends on the individual user...

Having said that, I would get the latest and greatest iPhone for its camera even though I usually use my DSLR camera for that purpose...

I bought a 13 Pro Max because at the time it was the same price, if not a little cheaper than the 14 Plus. I felt it was the better phone of the two so went with it. I actually had the 13 Pro initially but swapped with my wife as she hated the size of the Pro Max. Both were more cost effective than the mid tier 14’s.

With the price hikes though, my next iPhone will most probably be a regular iPhone as I won’t be paying over a grand for my phone, what’s the point? An iPhone is an iPhone from an interface perspective.

I chose the 13 Pro Max because of the bigger screen and the extra zoom camera, other than that I was looking for a phone that I can use for at least 3 years, the Pro model seems more durable than the normal one.
