So I got my repaired iPhone back today in the mail, and the serial# on the phone is different from the one I sent in for repair. Did they send me the wrong iPhone or a brand new one? I'm going to call Apple tomorrow, but I'd like to know if any of you who sent in your phone for repair had a similar thing happen.

Mine spat the dummy yesterday

I plugged it into a demo iPod Hi Fi unit and instantly the screen dimmed, flickered and lines appeared, then it turned off, then flashed white/black/white/black etc and overheated itself! Would not turn off or restart. Although it looked off, noting on screen etc, it got hotter and hotter, I ended up putting it wrapped in gladwrap (to stop moisture) in between a a closed, folded bag of frozen peas which cooled it down. Would not restart, force restart, or even give any response connected via the dock cable to the computer or by itself.

The issues for me are:
a) I have only had the phone for a couple days.
b) I use it all day in the days I have had it for testing the web interface to by Database system.
c) Had to pay about $50 US to ship it back to the San Francisco store where my colleague got it from for me last saturday.
d) Will have to wait until it arrives is states, gets sent to repair depot (where I doubt they will be able to repair it), then wait for them to send me a replacement which will take around 3-4 weeks for me to get my replacement. On top of that they will probably want me to pay for the return shipping.

Of course this all sucks in the mean time :(

Got, that would suck.

Mine's in for a repair from being dropped from my case.
