That's what I want. An 88 g iPhone would be awesome
Hopefully there are enough people who aren't convinced by the big phone trend for Apple to do something in the small phone market.

I'll see what Apple does in September and decide. The last innovations from Apple that I'd actually miss were Apple Pay and Car Play in 2014. Apple will have to produce serious new features to get me to use a bigger iPhone and leave the SE behind.

I raise this issue every once in a while, and I've yet to see a compelling response.....what new feature/tech would get me to upgrade from my SE to a larger phone?? Posters will mention things like screen resolution, faster fingerprint reader, or 3D hardware/screen, but there is nothing I've seen that I want or need, and some that I don't like a virtual Home button. Personal preference, I know, but I prefer the physical Home button.

I got the 6 for Apple Pay, but after downgrading from a 6, the SE does everything I need in the size I want. My next phone will the 128gb version, and my son will get my 64gb. And I will hold onto this size for as long as I can.

I guess I am the only one appreciates having OIS in 6s+ camera. So I would love to have OIS in SE form factor.

Better cameras, that's all I'd need it to have at this point. Well that and a headphone jack, please!!
Sorry, it's gone. I would wager that headphone jack won't be on any new iPhones from now.

Considering that they have OIS for the 7, then if there were an SE2, then likely it will have it.

I think 4.3" would be more perfect than 4" one. The bigger screen, the bigger battery.

Not necessarily. A larger display doesn't equate to a larger battery. Removing or condensing internal components would likely equal a larger battery.

For example, the iPhone 7 (4.7) has a larger battery due to the 3.5 Jack being removed, but the display itself is the exact same size.

They just need to make the iPod touch into an iPhone

But only if Apple somehow figures out how to dramatically improve battery capacity from the iPod touch battery size. Because the current iPod touch's battery life sucks as is. I can't imagine what the addition of a cellular radio would do.

Well, in the first place, the current SE is by far the most powerful and feature filled 4" phone anywhere. Nothing else even comes close to it. I've tried to find anything that one could even compare to it - there are literally zero premium 4" phones left out there except for the SE.

if we're wishing, though, I'd love to see a spec for spec clone of the iPhone 7 in a 4" screen size form factor released alongside the iPhone this Fall.

Even more of an out there wish would be to get a new phone that is spec for spec iPhone 7 but with the new iPhone "8" design language that would get you the 4.7" screen in a phone the size of the current SE. That would be the ultimate "iPhone SE."

That'd be the phone I would buy in matte black...

Sadly neither of those things are happening, though, IMHO :(

Improved front facing camera, higher resolution display, bigger battery. In the same design but a little bigger overall with 3 gb of RAM.

Keep dreaming...

My only wish for it is that it retains the 3.5mm jack. If it doesn't my current SE will be my last iPhone.

The S8 will keep the 3.5mm jack, but I think the writing is on the wall.

I think by 2019 (maybe 2020 tops)...we may not see the jack on any of the premium phones.

Keep the current size, shape and headphone jack. Put in iPhone 8 electronics. Give it the new red back case and a black front.

One of the main purposes of the SE was to make iPhone affordable to more people. Making all kinds of upgrades that are equal to or exceed other iPhones would negate the main purpose of the phone. The SE is not going to be competitive with the other iPhones. It wasn't designed to be.

I use a SE for the size. If I wanted a plus size phone I would just break out my Mini iPad. So have a 3 different size iPhone line up.

If they took the 4.7 inch iPhone 7 and removed or significantly reduced the bezels it would be about the same size as the iPhone 5.

So I'm hoping for a bezel-less 4.7 inch iPhone with all the flagship features.

When the SE was released, it was "premium" in the sense that it has flagship internals, better than the "mid-range" offering the iPhone 6.
It is obvious we won't see a refresh this year as Apple just updated the storage tier. When the next iPhone with A11 is released, the SE will be where the iPhone 5S was, a 2-generation-behind model.

It is unfortunate. I wish Apple would just simplify iPhone lineup, all with same SoC, but differing screen size. That way, people don't have to be stuck with an "older" internals just because they want a smaller phone.

If Jobs was still around, I believe that's what he do.

SE really needs better color gamut. it looks awful compared even to a 6, let alone 6s or 7.

I hope the same thing. After the iPhone 6 won't buy never a phone so big.

Not trying to pick on you or criticize you, but I've just never been able to wrap my head around this.....unless you proof photos or color-correct for a living, and you're choosing a 4" cell phone to do it on, what difference could it possibly make when reading emails, texting, playing a game, making a call, looking at pictures of whatever you take photos of, or whatever else a cell phone is for?

A cell phone is not a computer monitor....no professional or even a semi-serious hobbiest would use a cell phone to take, display, or work on photos. If you're actually using a 4" cell phone to watch movies or TV you can't possibly be discerning enough to complain about any "color gamut" differential you are looking at.

I could see that some with OCD might be unable to focus on the content of the task.....perhaps that is you? Just KNOWING there's a cell phone out there that has a wider color gamut makes you unable to focus on and enjoy what you are seeing?? Or maybe it's me.....can you explain it in more detail to me? I went from a 6 to the SE, and I spent not one second comparing the displays....it didn't even dawn on me. I've asked before about this but have never received an answer that makes sense.

The iPhone 5/5s/SE screens are already too big for my thumb to reach the far corner (original 3:2 3.5" size was perfect). So personally I don't want the screen to be even a millimeter bigger, even if the overall device size stays the same.

Personally, the SE is the perfect phone for me. I don't want anything changed. It does everything I want my phone to do.

I wouldn't want to sacrifice the price point, the portability, the usability, the form factor, the battery life or the simplicity for gimmicky "features" like 3D Touch or waterproofing and facial scanning or whatever other crap they are thinking of to make people consume more.

I enjoy having a simple, comfortable, portable, great looking phone that lasts me the whole day with 30% battery still in the tank that lets me send/receive messages, emails and calls, listen to music, browse the Internet, do my banking, check my teams scores, watch the odd video, browse reddit and imgur, read the news plan my calendar, view/manage my documents and listen to podcasts. There's nothing else I need it to do. When/if it dies and it's beyond repair, I can see myself replacing it with the exact same phone if it was to be available...well, the 128gb version anyway.

I switched from 5s to 6s and will switch back to SE.

My wish list would include a Diamond Black option, 5 MB front camera and 3D-touch (so convenient when texting).

Wouldn't mind a high-end SE though - size and form are perfect in my opinion.

Considering the new Airpods, I couldn't care less for headphone jacks tbh.

That's great the SE works perfectly for you, but what is gimmicky about being able to switch between apps and move the cursor more quickly and easily? And what's gimmicky about not having to worry about your phone getting wet when you live in a very rainy region? Are raincoats also gimmicks?

Just curious....is there something wrong with the current quality of your selfies or FaceTime?

The unintuitive and unnecessary 3D Touch is slower most of the time because it's so inconsistent. The cursor thing doesn't work when you want it to and normally results in unwanted letters being typed, which you then have to remove. The shortcuts are unnecessary, and slower than just opening the app and making your selection. Same with the app switcher, a double press on the open button takes as much time as getting your thumb in the exact right spot to 3D Touch for the shortcut. Of course this is anecdotal based on the ~9 months I had a 6S, and from talking to those than I know that own 6S's/7's.

And I've never heard of an iPhone being damaged by rain. I've never heard of a use case that involved submerging your phone in water. This is of course also anecdotal, but I'd say these two examples account for a small minority of users.

They're gimmicks, designed to create hype for a consumer base that is never content with their device or simple incremental improvements every couple of years. Each release needs something to draw attention and create a feeling of desire, that's what 3D Touch, Waterproofing and new colours do. People demand features and will buy whatever gimmicks Apple sell simply because they offer something different from what they already own.
