Don't understand why they would drop Max after just 1 year, and replace it with Pro, for a device that's the same size, shape and design.

Last year there was 2 camera lens on the back of the iPhone and this year there is rumored to be 3 lenses. So retail prices are staying the same and you think apple got a huge discount on camera lens or apple is taking in less profit on each iPhone?
You were thinking the cost increase of last years model was due solely to the camera With the oled screen not being a factor?

My opinion for 2019, same price, same margin.

I'm expecting some sort of elaborate trade-in program. If for nothing else, pre-orders. Apple almost has to delight in pricing on at least one of the phones, or the trade-in program. This thinking has almost become an expected feature on to itself.

Let us eat cake Apple!!!!!!!!

Poor marketing would be the only reason I could see them changing the moniker from ‘Max to Pro’ (Even though I think both titles are terrible). But that’s very Un-Apple like to change the title in one year. Keep in mind, consumers don’t verbally care about the title of an iPhone, what they care about is what the phone offers/price.

Side note:

The only distinction when Apple uses the numbering system, is that just shows the highest/newest iPhone offered in their lineup, which makes it easy to identify.

Will the successor to the iPhone XR be available SIM-free at launch this year? The iPhone XS and XS Max were available SIM-free at launch last year so I wonder if that is a possibility.

Preordering the 2019 models is madness.
There was a lot of "I'll never preorder an iPhone again" sentiment after the XS launch.
Prudent thing to do is wait until some units get into non fanboy hands and see what they've got to say. Another GB of ram & a 10% CPU speed bump & third lens is gunna be a hard sell if the rumors are correct.

Maybe Apple isn't dropping "Max."

If "Pro" = triple camera, then it allows Apple to drop the "R" designation. Right now, XR is seen as a generation older than XS.

iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max puts all 2019 iPhones in the same family.

Call me crazy but they might even be more expensive for loss of volume. Then again people haven't been buying as much because of the prices lowering the volume sold.

MacBook Pro
iPad Pro
So why wouldn't they include iPhone Pro?

You need to elaborate more here. So what exactly makes a Phone ‘Pro’? [FYI, It’s not PROfessional, it’s PROductivity.] The MacBook Pro an iPad Pro have separate case uses, how do you think the iPhone aligns with those products where Apple should include the moniker ‘Pro’?

My prediction:

1. No "Pro" will be slapped on an iPhone name
2. Prices will be the same as last year
3. New models will be incremental upgrades except for the spider eyes camera

Pro barely means Professional anymore.

Heyo MacRumors Forum!

I'm a guy that has been living with a Oneplus 6 for over a year now and I'm pretty tired of Android.

I switched from a IPhone SE and i really want to go back to IOS. I'm only 16 y/o, and I'm pretty scared of people saying that this phone will be so much more expensive. Thats why I'm kinda asking here if anybody have some guesses towards the final price of the Iphone 11/PRO.

I kinda don't hope its gonna cost as much as a macbook xD

Oof. Im going to buy it still since I've haven't had a iPhone in a long time. The rent becoming real I guess

If money is an issue, you could always get the XR after the new lines of phones come out. Honestly, the difference between the XR and XS isn’t that big and you’ll probably be just fine going with the 2018 models.

Well I have seen a few rumours suggesting their will be an 11, 11 Max and Pro, so I’d guess if this were the case the Pro would be 1200 or 1300 starting price if not more, Apple tends to jack up prices on anything they stick ‘Pro’ on!..
but the iPhone is not a Pro device, as suggested above I’d get an XR or XS or the 11 but that’ll probably cost from $999 anyway.

The thing is, that I'm that guy who always wants the newest and best when I'm buying a new product. That's why I'm going to go for the newly models since I rather buy a new device in many years than to buy one each year :)
