iPhone tethering works! (somehow?)

Would performing the hack be considered illegal? It's not like I'm not paying $30 for a data plan already. I would just like to be able to use my laptop when I'm somewhere without WiFi to access my works' network. It's just easier to do a RDC on a full size screen than it is on the iPhone.

I'm not trying to start a debate here or anything, but just didn't know if anyone has seen anything posted on AT&T's website or in their terms of use.
 
There are plenty threads about that issue.

And this is a dead subject now: I unjailbroke my phone so I can get MMS, and tethering is now gone. Not suprising.
