I've only not had 3G coverage when in the middle of nowhere. Down here in Brighton I nearly always have full 3G reception, as do I when I'm in London and as I did when I was at Uni in Nottingham. If O2 suddenly roll out EDGE everywhere overnight then I won't really mind as much. The last time I checked, however, there was absolutely no mention of an O2 roll out anywhere apart from one person who noticed what appeared to be an EDGE connection somewhere in the heart of London.
Well I don't currently have a 3G device but network coverage from the maps the networks provide doesn't look good at all.
I'd love to see proper HSDPA 3G on the iPhone but I really doubt that and, as I say, I'm fairly sure the Euro iPhone won't have 'normal' 3G either. As ridiculous as that may be.
We'll have to see. I suspect we only have to wait another couple of days to find out.
Here's a map, the darker blue is full 3G (video calling etc)

I think 8 gig is plenty for a phone.
I still havent used half of my phones memory.
What you going to do with 16gig on a phone, is it really necessary?
Its 3.5 actually.
I bought a 4giger. Thats 1 person.
Apple typically drops iPod hardware refreshes just under once a year or so. Even then, they make a few enemies in those that (ignorantly) bought a new iPod at the end of a model cycle.
There's no way they'd risk taking a major PR hit and piss off 500,000 new iPhone owners only 2 months after its release.
I don't understand why people don't just look at Apple's relatively repetitive (and thus predictable) track record when trying to second guess their next move.

Sure, 8 gigs is overkill for a phone, but you have to realize that this thing is an iPod as well. And 8 gigs for an iPod... not so much.

Seriously.Think for a minute before posting these stupid threads.
For what it's worth
1) Samsung has said that their new 16gig NAND will be available in products this in 2007.
2) RBC analysts have told investors to expect 16gig iPhones in stores before Christmas
3) No new FCC filings are needed if all that is changed is the memory size. Only one filing was submitted for the two models out now.
Let's say if they did, won't the early adopters just be suffering from a dose of Caveat Emptor?
