I love design and metalwork. Massive fan of the squared and banded sides of the 12, 13, and 14. But what is the point when everyone will put the phone in a case anyway? Even if you didn't care about damage, they've made the phone so slippery that it's unmanageable without a case. Why pay for precision machining when plastic would produce the same result?

So this is basically an idea and people run with it thinking it will be reality. Seriously. This rumour is stupid.

It’s all stuff we already know.
It will be more expensive - thats obvious. Every year the price seems to increase now.
It will incorporate better cameras and a faster chip - again, pretty obvious!
Of course if you choose to hate the article you are going to hate it. Frankly no sense trying to convince you otherwise.

But let me help a bit just in case there is a chance. This is about new, an "ultra" iphone, something we havnt seen before. Look I understand you might not like it, but this is a genuine rumour with genuine likeliness of happening. Apple literally just released an "ultra" watch, thats not a rumor, its a fact. It seems reasonable to speculate that Apple is experimenting the same concept into their phones, its not stupid to think that at all. Frankly from a business perspective it seems like a likely thing to do. Frankly from a consume perspective I believe many people, not ordinary consumers, but a significant percent of people will in fact fork out an insane amount of money for an "ultra" iphone. There are many business people who rely on their phone more than anything who are working in extreme conditions, they wont hesitate to spend the money. There are also athletes who want their phone to be built for their extreme lifestyles, they wont hesitate to spend the money. There are those crazy rich spoiled people who will buy it as a status symbol, they wont hesitate to spend the money. All of these people are real honest good target markets, and you know it, apple knows it.

He's running out of tricks and the iPhone dividend bestowed on him by Jobs. Most of the projects he started are either delayed or postponed indefinitely. It's just a matter of time before shareholders realize it's time.

Spend enough time here and you’ll start to think Tim sits down and designs the hardware, troubleshoots code, dreams up new product features, scours the earth for precious new materials, builds the tables used in the retail stores in his wood shop on the weekends, writes marketing copy in his spare time and personally loads up new devices on planes in China - just to pitch in. Not sure if people know what CEOs do, but - news flash - it’s not a single one of those. CEOs of publicly traded companies, have one objective: make shareholders money. Period. And to that end, he’s exceeding expectations. If shareholders are complaining, it has nothing to do with Tim and much more to with global economics. Fact is, Tim has made them staggering amounts of money. They love his product trickle strategy, all things Ultra and the more services the better. While you, and others, may be done with him, they’re not.

Too bad it may not be til iPhone 16. I would jump at a phone that would be what the ultra *should be. More durable, better battery, robust and outdoor focused.

I’m on the 11Pro though and don’t think I will wait another year. Satellite connectivity, cameras, and battery life has just gotten much better over the years since the 11.

I know the ultra iPhone won’t be free… but man, if they made a phone that was wilderness worthy… I would normally be a day-one purchase… but not one year after spending $1000+ on the 15Pro.

The ultra Apple Watch has been my favorite apple device since I don’t know.

Never said he hasn't been a great CEO up to around 2020. In fact, I applauded him a couple of times on this site. The point is really that he's getting old and running out of ideas and that he should retire while he and Apple are still on top.

Whether you like it, Apple's heavy dependence on a single product category, i.e., the iPhone, doesn't bode well for its and Cook's future. For someone who claims to know what CEOs do so well, you should know that the one thing they're deeply aware of, it's the shareholders' fickleness.

It's as ugly as can be. What makes it worse is Apple always tout themselves as a company of impeccable design and then they release that pigs ear.
most people use cases anyway that will level the bump.

Mm…why does the render still feature a charging port?
Because phone is not better when you remove features. Having charging port with ability to use cable is better than not having it and not having this ability at all.

Protip: just ignore the stuff (port) you don't use.

It is coming out when Apple says it is coming out, until then, it is 100% a rumor and nothing more.
Everything we know about the Ultra.....

...... so basically nothing then!

It's all made up rumours. "If" - not "when".

Please don’t let the sunder duper pro max plus model be huge and clunky and have features you can’t get in the pro model other than battery life or something.

When we finally get back to a single camera lens on an iPhone hopefully they put a magnetic metal ring around it so that other camera attachments can be used.

All the best features will be on it, the pro wont be allowed to have some so you’ll have to wait another year or 2 for those features

If the Ultra looks like the renders, I am going to laugh out loud if anyone ever breaks one of those out in front of me!
