I'll settle for bug fixes! I'm hoping to see a glowing green battery for the first time.

I got a little added volume - when I go into my settings it shows it at a lower than full ringer volume (I had it set at the loudest before the update) - I increased it to the full ring and its louder than it was before :) YEAH!

I have been successfully playing music and browsing using Safari with no crashes...even situations that previously have crashed the browser and/or iPod.

Anyone noticed any improvement with reception in low areas?

PS: all people with custom ringtones have to restore, sucks for me, another 30 minutes without a phone.

thats what happened to me like i posted above.

Would guess that is why my phone PANIC'ed and went into restore mode. Guess we will see how many others like us have the same issue.

I had carrier logo altered.
56 Ringtones.

:apple:Malamutt

Not that I even have an iPhone, but I would like to know if people are able to re-apply the ringtone hacks after the update.. like it seems like you can't update with the hacks (ie you need to restore) but can you just re-apply them again?

I can't confirm the previously posted increase in volume. Mine seems to be the same. I also had my volume set at full before the update and it remained at full after the update... Perhaps the earlier report was incorrect or maybe it's a fluke.

amazing. me too. I've been browsing and I managed to get through an entire song; I've never been able to do that before. I'm on my third song now while browsing (and posting!) and crash-free so far. :)

It could be a fluke - but I did check the ringer volume before the update - this is one area I had as need for improvement - who knows it could be a bug specific to certain phones that its fixed.

Edit to add Im not the only one noticing this: see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1064319&tstart=0

this is what i expected in the first update. however, i bet we see new features added august 7th or before leopard at the latest.

sad though .. i really hoped custom tones or ichat would be in this one. guess i'll wait some more.

Note that this was not a new version of the OS, just an update to fix some bugs and mostly the security holes. I doubt we'll see any new features until 1.1. I say it's likely that we'll see 1.0.2 with more bug fixes before we see 1.1.

Also, remember that the security flaw probably caught the development team off-guard. They had to stop their work on the new features and fix the holes.

I have custom ringtones through iphoneringtonemaker...the ringtones are still there, still play, and it updated without a problem.

my volume was also lower after the update. i'll try speakerphone later to see if its louder.

I just tested my ringer volume. If there's any difference, I sure don't hear it.

I will say that moving between apps and back to the home screen feels considerably snappier.

No Safari/iPod crashes while surfing so far. Then again, the iPhone *did* just do a reset after the update, and my experience has been that crashes typically don't happen much right after a fresh reset.

Apple Explanation of Update

Update Info

Ive never had a problem with music and safari.. Is this widespread? I listen to music all the time and browse the web simultaneously.

To those who noticed their volume slider was lower after the update, can you confirm that there is a perceivable increase in volume (over your pre-update volume) when you put the slider at full, and if so, do you have a version 5 or 7 phone?

I have a 7 and can't tell a difference in volume and I'm a professional audio engineer...but that doesn't mean that some phones didn't get an increase in volume. To be fair, I was never disappointed with my volume level.

Has anyone with the 'hacked' ringtones done an update? I tried mine and it came back with an error message. Doing a restore now.

I used the trial for iPhone Ringtone Maker and my update went fine. My ringtones are still there too. I was concerned the second I clicked update, cause that's when I remembered I had installed it.

i had to restore completely my phone, but ifuntastic still works so yay.
