What makes you to choose an IPhone not an Android? I have IPhone just because of it's brand name. What reason do you guys have? please share.

iOS works better for me. I'm too jaded with troubleshooting stupid tech issues 40 hours a week to spend time dicking about with Android in my free time and customising it to my liking. A phone is a tool, not a toy; I'd rather something reliable that I don't have to waste time on.

Also Apple's support is a big plus.

I had an Android phone and iPad to go along with a mix of Mac and PC (and one Linux) computers ... until a few years ago when my wife and kids all got smartphones. It made sense to do all iPhones, since the boys had iPod Touch already and therefore had apps, etc and we had loads of iTunes music ... so then I switched to an iPhone as well.

I tried just over a year ago to move back to a Galaxy Note 4, but the iOS family hooks made it too much of a hassle ... so I returned to iPhone. I still have Android devices - tablets, Kindle Fire tablet & phone, Fire TV ...

I have never been one of those "X is 'far superior' to Y" types, seeing utility in pretty much every computing device I have used/owned since the late 70s ...

Totally agree, that's part of my standard answer

Carriers in the US hold back Android updates
iMessage
Lack of iPad Pro level Abdroid tablet that I'm aware of
Apple Watch

Kind of jealous that Apple Music has a better UI on Android, though.

Be gentle with me. I'm just about to change my whole ecosystem. I've been using Android since the G1 (and other smart phone systems such as UIQ before that). I've been using a Note 3 for the last couple of years and wanted a smaller phone. The SE (if it ever turns up) ticks the boxes and the ipad pro looks interesting. I'm hoping not to be selling them in a month or so

The Apple ecosystem isn't a bad place to be

From everything I have read the SE is a nice phone! Enjoy!

Android.

I had an iPad for work and while it worked well for work purposes, Android just feels more natural to me. I was always fumbling about in iOS despite using it a lot during work hours.

What? Nobody said WebOS????

I pick iOS solely for iMessage. Now that everyone in my family has unlimited messaging, that's not so much of a reason(although read/delivery receipts are nice).

In 2013 I had a HTC One M7 that I really enjoyed. My main issues were the poor battery life(due to custom ROMs, so my fault) and the garbage camera that the phone had. The new HTC 10 seems to have fixed the second issue, so my next phone may not be iOS.

It is a really nice phone. I'm really enjoying mine, but only because my S7e is my main phone and allows me to actually be productive. But you can't take anything away from how speedy and reliable the little SE is. It is an underdog phone for the masses, and I'm a sucker for underdogs.

Samsung has the exact same feature with its messaging app. As long as the other person has a Samsung you can see them typing, when the text is sent, received and read.

My reasons for having an iPhone are:
1. iTunes backup.
2. Photostream.
3. FaceTime.
4. iMessage.
5. App Store.

They are all things I can't get on Android despite handsets now matching and exceeding the iPhone on design alone. I don't buy a phone for its looks or what brand it has on it though.

Unfortunately I have an irrational hatred for TouchWiz. I also dislike Samsungs habit of completely locking their phones down.

Yeah, I'm probably missing out.

I think this may be something I miss when my SE finally shows up. Android allows the use of a myriad of launchers so you don't actually need to go near touchwiz. Not sure what you mean by locked down though, bootloader and recovery are the first things I unlock on any android phone. Again not sure what I'll do with the SE although one minor reason for choosing it is to remove the ability for me to spend hours putting custom ROMs onto it.

I've used both iOS and android a lot and always come back to iOS. Mainly for iMessage and FaceTime, since my wife loves her iPhone. It's too hard to be on Android when the family is on iOS

Also at work I get NO 4G AT&T signal but get free wifi, so I can still send iMessage texts just fine. If I was on android I wouldn't be able to send any texts from work.

iMessage
Syncs with all devices
Smooth
Consistent updates
iCloud backup
Resell value is very good
FaceTime
Photo stream

I left android due to S6 edge being a laggy mess and got tired of Howe frustrating it was but S7 edge appears to be much improved and is an amazing device. There are positives for both but for me now that I've got apple products that works well with each other it's the most dependable option to me. That's not to say I don't want the S7 edge as I do as it's fantastic for what it does but for me iPhone just works better...I can leave my phone upstairs and text on my iPad which is very ideal.

I like both and have used both for 3 or 4 years. I recently switched to a new Nexus 6 solely for the bigger screen. They each have their benefits and drawbacks but another thing I like about Android is the Twitter and Reddit apps are FAR far superior to those on iOS. I love the card layout and new Material Design of Android. And finally, Marshmallow gives standby times equal to the iOS platform.

If you can get Android to work the way you want it to, it's great. I like the direction LG and other OEMs are taking with having a single launchpad and no app drawer. That way you can have all your stuff accessible from one place, and you can put them in grouped folders if you want to, which I always regarded as an advantage of iOS, and you have the added benefit of widgets, if you want them.

Also, being able to install launchers that enhance the experience is a very nice touch on Android's side.

Buying ANY phone solely on the brand name is a silly thing to do .....

I don't know much about phones technically. So I just bought because IPhone has good repo in market. Usewise I don't have any specific requirement to look for in phones.

unfortunately, Touchwiz is far more than just a launcher. It's embedded in the OS at the core, so you can't get away from it by installing Nova launcher, Google Now Launcher, etc. Touchwiz is getting much better but still causes performance issues and degrades the functionality of the device over time. My last real world experience was owning the Galaxy S6 for ~4 months. I did really like that phone and 80% of the time, it was one of the smoothest Android phones I've owned. But about once a day (sometimes twice a day), the phone would just start lagging like crazy to the point where it would take 5+ seconds for anything to respond to a touch or action. A reboot would clear it up, but this happened quite often. And not to mention the RAM management issues that were seen on that phone.

with regards to his locked down comment, current Samsung offerings (at least some versions in the USA I think) don't allow bootloader unlock or sometimes even root access. For an android modding enthusiast, this is a non-starter.

with regards to OP. I have owned a lot of android phones and several iPhones since getting the iPhone 3G in 2008. For me, iMessage, iCloud Photo Sharing, and FaceTime are the reasons I stay on iOS the majority of the time. ~95% of the people (family and friends) I communicate with often own an iOS device. We share lots of multimedia (videos and pictures) of kids, vacations, etc. as well as FaceTime regularly. And I do like the hardware of my 6s and really like iOS 9 as a whole... the design, functionality, etc. I do like Android for the customization. I always install nova launcher first thing and really enjoy using the myriad of icon packs that are in the Play Store.
